Gas prices
today | Evo X

I live in central Illinois. Regular gas is pushing $4 a gallon with premium pushing $5 a gallon. I would guess this is related to Hurricane Beryl blowing through the gulf coast and Houston. Ouch...

Gas prices dropping a bit in SoCal. Actually saw $4.33/gal. (cash) in San Diego.

That is a great deal for reg gas in CA. I spent some time in the LA area around 2018. Regular gas was about at that that price point..

Did the state just raise taxes again?

Gasoline costs what gasoline costs. Taxes, transportation costs, storage regulations and fees, real estate cost, mortgage rates, minimum wage laws, etc drive prices at the pump even higher.

Big Oil makes a few cents per gallon. The state and feds make multitudes more per gallon.

This morning I paid $3.05/gallon for regular in central Texas.

For the past couple of months, the gas prices have dropped as low as $2.87/gallon and as high as $$3.19/gallon.

It’s sporadic. One day it was $2.87 and then the very next day it was $3.19.

It’s like a crap shoot. Just to save a couple of bucks you better fill up when it’s $2.87 or else if you’re on empty you’ll likely be facing $3.19.

Don’t worry, when our new female dictator comes into office, she will on day one ban fracking on federal lands and ban the sale of meat. No more bacon.

$325/gallon in NH. I live in MA and go up there once a week to see our grandson, grocery shopping and top of the tank! $3.50 in MA, sometime even higher.

I have never bought premium gasoline. Why would you spend more money on something that you are going to burn up?

With premium you get better mpg, the engine will perform better and probably last longer. But if you are person that buys and sells their car all the time then it doesn’t matter to you. I keep cars for 20 or more years so it matters to me.

Welcome to my world in California!

We have had relentless gas prices around $5.00/gallon and up since Biden took office. We pay the highest gas taxes in the entire nation, thanks to the likes of Newsom who wants to replace all gas engines with EVs - with little understanding as to how electricity is generated.

Gas today looks to be ≈ $4.50/gallon in my area, so it has come down a bit - but that could change tomorrow.

“With premium you get better mpg, the engine will perform better and probably last longer”

False unless the compression ratio and other characteristics of the combustion chamber and ignition timing are designed to require it.

EvoX must be retarded. The Dems have made the Green Agenda their primary goal.

I have v6 camry the owners manual “recommends” premium. I use premium and the MPG is 5-10% higher. Seems to rev faster ( it is a manual ) when I use premium. I always use premium for the rare road trip. Day to day I use the mid grade.

Crude oil prices are down significantly (from $84+ to $76) in the last couple of weeks, but gasoline prices are not coming down. The supply chain is extremely complex and it is hard to pin down the exact cause.

My theory is that the trading desks in NY are playing games with the price of gasoline because they see an opportunity to buy low and sell high or because of politics. The ESG crowd needs high gas prices to push us all into EV’s but the price of crude oil isn’t cooperating. So someone is making the spread and advancing the EV push at the same time.

None of this ever happens by chance.
