The streamer's co-founder and executive chairman had earlier come out against Joe Biden after the president's poor performance in the first debate.
Reed Hastings has come out big for Kamala Harris, cutting the vice president’s 2024 election campaign a check for $7 million.
The Netflix co-founder and executive chairman revealed the massive donation to the tech-focused site The Information on Tuesday. “After the depressing debate, we are in the game again,” Hastings told The Information. He added that it was the largest donation he had ever given to a single candidate.
Earlier this month, in the aftermath of Joe Biden’s disastrous first presidential debate performance, Hastings went public with his frustrations with the president running for re-election. “Biden needs to step aside to allow a vigorous Democratic leader to beat Trump and keep us safe and prosperous,” Hastings told the New York Times.

I don’t understand the “campaign donation” thing - THIS year…
One is either for Donald Trump or they’re for the communist regime.
I doubt that there are many who are on the fence and will change their minds because one side has more/better ads..
I watch on Viki.com
Doesn’t most political money end up at ad production companies and big media outlets for air time? Maybe he’s invested there.
Thanks. I’ll have to try Viki and see what I think about the production values of the Viki shows. I know what the production values (and the subtitles in English) are on the Netflix produced Korean shows, and I find them excellent.
That headline needs some forewarning! Can’t stop laughing. That’s what it costs to bac..., uh....
Years ago it was offered free. Looked around and it wasn’t worth $0.
Voting with your pocket is very effective. You can’t always walk away from everyone that hates you, but you can from many of them. The concept that these companies and many of their supporters hate you, is hard to believe. They tell us they hate us, but we don’t believe them. Kinda a Christian weakness IMHO.
The wealthy should be prohibited from government and politics.
They’re too disconnected from the common man to be involved in their governance.
True story: We cancelled our netflix a few months back. Don’t miss it and seeing this crap, I am glad we did.
We had Netflix back around 2000 when they would mail you new movies, and you would mail them back, but they became overly political to the point I found it extremely repulsive.
I think we cancelled around 2010 or 2013, but it was the whole section devoted to homosexuality and their documentary section that made me drop it tout de suite.
It was nauseating.
We had movies mailed too. I don’t remember when we left, when “orange is the new black” started. That is trash, I saw the first couple episodes, enough, we dumped them.
I might be the only person in the world who’s never seen anything on Netflix.
I disagree...those who pay no income taxes should be prohibited from voting
Only 7 million? :/
When I first heard that, many years ago, I hoped, "Finally, a conservative media baron."
Alas, no.
Wonder how many contracts and options that buys?.
I would, on the whole, agree with you.
If you decide to try Netflix again, or maybe you can find it on YouTube, watch "Ripley", an 8-episode feature. The photography of old Italy alone is worth it. It's a very good psycho thriller. The Italian detective is wonderful.
You’re statement is a non sequitur.
You disagree that the wealthy are too out of touch with the common man to be involved in their governance and politics, then proceed to state “those who pay no income taxes should be prohibited from voting”.
Personally, I prefer the abolishment of the income tax. :^)
Just cancelled along with 2 dozen people o know so far.
