Today we use ballistic data and high speed imagery to put to be some of the myths and conspiracy theories around the attempted assassination of Donald Trump.

I HATE that this guy was making me laugh. Like when he labelled a kill shot, “civil war,” but labelled the actual shot that clipped Trump’s ear, “affordable groceries.”
Mildly interesting for fact.
Brandon’s running for Congress.
I am not a gun person but if the SSSniper hit the shooter how are there pics of shooter dead with head still attached?
It could be that Brandon got a better shot on the dummy skull than the actual SS got on the would be assassin...
And there may have been different ammo used. Brandon mentioned “ballistic tips.” If he meant Nosler Ballistic Tips, they’re highly frangible.
Regrettably, Mr. Herrera lost (barely) the primary. I hope he tries again next time.
I saw a pic and his head didn’t look too great.
OK...hadn’t heard that. He went in with realistic expectations, wanting to force a run-off with his Congressman . He met that goal.
The back of his head is not intact. I shoot a .300wby mag and these calibers are just ass kickin.
Just looked it up. That is close. Gonzales will likely think twice before any anti-2A votes, hereafter.
He's still a dead skunk in the middle of the road, and deserves to be removed by primary election.
His head didn’t look great but it was still there.
I think another poster pointed out the bullets used by sniper might not have been as powerful ax one in this vid
I think YOU hit in most reasonable explanation.
Your freeper name is perfect
One thing that Herrera's video didn't accurately depict was Crooks' prone shooting position when he was hit by the counter-sniper team (those ballistic gel heads can't be "posed" that way, yet). From the rooftop photo, I think Crooks was hit near the left eye, with the bullet exiting down on the neck below and behind the right ear. Less "explosive" than a JFK-style head shot, but it still made a real mess.
Yeh, the shooter was still identifiable in the pic I saw. Its not like he got hit by a .50 cal BMG. That’s a whole different. Deal.
True. I tried to load some 150gr Nosler B-tips for my .30-30 Win. Accurate, and the results on wild hog were satisfying. LOA meant I could only chamber one at a time, but they still worked well.
SP, B-tip, hollow point, pre-franged... All designed to transfer more energy from the moving projectile to the target. The results on the ballistic dummy were impressive, but as you correctly stated, not necessarily apples=apples to what the SS were shooting.
There was an article published, and a subsequent story on FB about an elk that was wasting away, that eventually died horribly, complete with tear-jerking video. . In the necropsy, they discovered that the top of its femur was gone...and there was a little green tip in the wound. First off...shot placement. Secondly...commenters were saying it was that dreaded green-tipped ammo from the despicable AR-15 that had done this! I explained that the green tips on 5.56 rounds were paint, and the green polymer tips were a hallmark of .30 cal ballistic tips, but I don’t think I convinced many of them.
Nosler E-tip is a “lead free” poly tipped... M855 is a steel core and no poly...
