Trump and Vance Are Having a Jacksonian Moment
American Conservative ^ | 7/21/2024 | Collin Pruett

J.D. Vance’s rise to the vice-presidential nomination is a watershed moment in American politics. For young conservatives like myself, the moment feels like a triumph, the culmination of curiosity and organization. For the country, the moment offers the first uncompromising choice for change in a generation. The moment calls for a reflection on how we arrived here and the choice before us. Will middle America forge a new consensus, achieved with echoes of the Jacksonian age? Alternatively, will the great city-states of the Democratic Party stymie the tide of discontent and preserve the neoliberal status quo?

The Republican Party which simply became irrelevant following Ronald Reagan is now, after a long hiatus — on the rebound. It is a wonderful feeling.

Trump from trial and error now knows exactly how to get things done.

Simply declare an emergency and closing the border is easy for instance.

Flynn was politically savvy, but he was at DOD/DIA type and was never before under attack by the Justice Department. He was caught off guard and shot himself in the foot. Unless you are a lawyer or former agent for the Justice Department it is not hard for them to trick you.

Flynn was DIA, honestly he should have known better. He was caught in transition and not prepared. I would put Flynn on the transition team to vet all WH Intel staff, Intel political appointments and for fun, he could review and determine which politically appointed Justice staff stay and who goes. That would be poetic justice.

What MAGA team? You don't bring into the WH some red hat loyal supporter. How did that work for him last time? He needs inside DC pit bulls with an axe to grind. Like Flynn. He needs young conservatives with political chops like Vance to watch and work with the pit bulls. Pit bulls have been known to bite the hand that feeds them, so Trump needs ever vigilant staff with DC experience. You say he has that ready to go? And you know this how?

A lady at church today mentioned that, to her, Trump has seemed a little stand-offish from Vance when it comes to personal space and body language. At the Convention, and also at the rally yesterday. Not real buddy-buddy. Keeping a distance. A little uncomfortable.

I didn’t notice that, but when I “watch” an event like this I’m usually sewing or something, so not paying 100% attention to video.

Anybody else?

Never tasted beer, but love bacon.

And love Trump.

My first taste of Trump and I was hooked for life. Total addict for the man. Better than chocolate.

Have a HUGE portrait of Trump in our library. Went to a Staples with a file that I’d run thru photoshop to turn it into a painting and they printed it. MAKES my day!

"his next step should be bringing in staffers who have and will fight the entrenched establishment. Someone whom the three letter agencies cannot trick like Flynn. "

It is getting late for me, and maybe I am not correctly understanding your above statement- Do you mean that PDJT SHOULD bring in staffers like Flynn, or conversely SHOULD NOT bring in easily trickable staffers like Flynn? (I feel that General Flynn is the utmost as far as loyalty to Trump).

Not questioning his loyalty, the FBI should never have been allowed to speak to Flynn in the WH without going through the WH counsel. Comey admitted they used the chaos of the transition to basically trick Flynn into committing a process crime. Flynn should have known better as former DIA head.

If Trump wins, Flynn would be a great asset on the transition team. He would not be fooled a second time.

I think Flynn should be National Security Advisor, Secretary of Defense or even better, Secretary of State.
