J.D. Vance’s rise to the vice-presidential nomination is a watershed moment in American politics. For young conservatives like myself, the moment feels like a triumph, the culmination of curiosity and organization. For the country, the moment offers the first uncompromising choice for change in a generation. The moment calls for a reflection on how we arrived here and the choice before us. Will middle America forge a new consensus, achieved with echoes of the Jacksonian age? Alternatively, will the great city-states of the Democratic Party stymie the tide of discontent and preserve the neoliberal status quo?

Finally, I mean FINALLY, There Are No BUSHES!!
I’m positive the media will spend a disproportionate amount of time asking about Vance’s change in personal feelings about Trump,
BS
Or Romneys, McStains, or Ryans
Trump/Vance campaign has energy and resolve, Biden/Harris campaign has dementia and DEI.
When does Vance debate Kamala? That would be a riot.
I thought infants were born wanting to suck bacon like a pacifier.
We've been here since 1984. It was understandable that Reagan took on GHWB to unify the GOP to defeat Carter, but he didn't need the thug RINO to defeat Mondale.
It was a catastrophic error.
I thought infants were born wanting to suck bacon like a pacifier.
The point is the more people learn about Trump and are exposed to him, the more they like him.
That election was the high-water mark for Republicans, a record that will probably never be broken. Democrats won a total of 1 state (Minnesota) with 3 electoral votes.
Many believed the media. They believed the media when they said Trump was bad, they believed the media when they told them Biden was fine, sharp as a tack. Most people are smart enough to figure out if the media lied to them about Biden what else did they lie about?
It was a catastrophic error.
No, he didn't need Bush to beat Wally & the Beaver.
Or maybe, “This was the context in which thousands of young conservatives read ‘Hillbilly Elegy” for the first time.”
Hey, where do I find competent writers at?
And scotch.
If he learned his lesson, and if elected, his next step should be bringing in staffers who have and will fight the entrenched establishment. Someone whom the three letter agencies cannot trick like Flynn. He will need a cadre of young conservatives paired with older experienced Washington hands. No more family members, except maybe Junior. No Misses and Mister Ivanka please!. Those young conservatives will ultimately build a generation of new conservative leaders possibly lead by Vance. Reduce the intelligence agency actors in the White House. Fire every political appointee at Justice, State and CIA. Leave DOD alone except for SecDef. Remind the JCS they were at his will and will be vetted to determine if they keep their appointments. At DOD the standard for senior officers should be apolitical decision makers. Easy way to accomplish that is reducing number of Generals per service by 25% across the board in 2025 and another 25% in 2026. I all the above cases, there are career personnel to step into the void and keep agencies and commands running. In some cases the career people run the show anyway because all political appointees are temporary hires. Colonels are Generals without the stars and bloated staffs. They will step into the spot left by Generals.
Use the power of the purse to force agencies to return to their basic functions. I would give Vance a free hand in much of this, let him be the pit bull.
I don’t think of Genera Michael Flynn in the way you describe him. The reason they went after him is because Flynn has the goods against them. He’s one of the most powerful weapons against the deep state.
The two major differences between 2024 and 2016:
1. Trump has the party, it’s his party now.
2. Trump has a sizable MAGA team ready to walk into positions throughout government on day 1 and start giving and enforcing the orders.
“Hey, where do I find competent writers at?”
