Dan Bongino, a former Secret Service agent, says Saturday night’s shooting at President Donald Trump’s rally, is a “catastrophic failure” of the Secret Service.
“This is an obviously catastrophic failure and NO excuses should be made, or even attempted,” Bongino posted on X. “The failures are profound and questions must be answered about ground surveillance, air surveillance, post-stander support, and counter-sniper advance work and response. We have ONE job, and we came within inches of a deadly failure today. An uneventful failure is NOT a success.”
Bongino also said he was in touch with other former Secret Service colleagues.

“Where were the drones?”
No kidding. That was one of my first thoughts yesterday. A dozen should be in the air sending video that get merged into an holistic view of the area combined with real-time AI analysis identifying potential threat actors — all sent to the command center.
BINGO
Change your tagline when you post.
It’s right under the box......
I agree.
You can change it every time you post. It’s right under the post box where it says “tagline”.
Thanks
LOL all the drones are owned by the Bad Guys who took over the USA, I would'nt look for them to help
The SS looked like an absolute clown show complete with female midgets that quite obviously had no weapons mastery. Go watch the videos of the attempt on President Reagan’s life to see how real professionals operate.
After the Vietnam War we had “Rules of Engagement” suddenly which meant our armed combatants had no autonomy any longer to shoot to kill. You had to go through a chain of military command up through civilian oversight electronically before being given authorization to engage any enemy with deadly force proactively. It appears this type of command and control may already have been ingrained into our various protective agencies over the intervening years, and we saw the results Saturday.
There was one guy at the presser yesterday says the perp was outside the perimiter????
Outside the perimeter? That perimeter is is anything within eyesight of The President and a bit beyond.
How in the Ho Lee Phuk is that possible?
I’ve been to Trump rallies and snipers are everywhere, including in the hills surrounding.
Security is actually visible for miles before you even get to a rally venue.
I felt safe, as well, unconcerned for The President’s safety
Moreover, there was a helicopter circling the event
So… a guy just decides to show up at a rally and take a potshot at PDJT… and he looks around for a spot that wasn’t covered by USSS and… well whadaya know! He’s in luck. A handy barn roof with no-one on it. And his rifle happens to be sighted in for the distance to the stage.
Now, let’s just see if he can get up there with a rifle without being spotted. Well whaddaya know! Another lucky break! Wait… he was spotted and pointed out to security, Well whaddaya know! Three times lucky! Security blew it off.
Oops. His luck ran out. He was shot deader’n a doornail. Tsk, tsk. Too bad. Can’t question him now.
Gonna be lots of stuff out there
Fact is “it should have never happened “
That it did is inexplicable and no answer will be acceptable
Snipers have an Area of Operation
In that AO are Squares that they are responsible for scanning hostiles and intelligence
Each Square also has math notes for distance, elevation, declination, etc
This was not a slipup
Q:
How does someone get a long gun into a political rally and occupy a sweet rooftop sniper’s spot, all within plain view of spectators and the law enforcement, (federal, state and local), the LEOs chose to ignore this guy long enough to allow him to fire for a volley shots at President Trump ?
A: You can not achieve this without inside help.
That whole “green light” thing is an artifact of the 70s and 80s. There pretty much is no such thing as moder LE snipers needing to get “permission to fire” with the exception of a static standoff with negotiators etc.... and even then it’s not absolute.
If they really had to radio for permission, that is at least 30 years out of date as a LE concept.
Utter incompetence.
Another take on this incident:
Bingo has contacts in the Secret Service.
*** And YES, there are some patriotic Trump supporting Fed’s. ***
The PPD and supporting agents from local offices are probably being sequestered and under orders that if they anything, to anyone, they’ll be fried chicken. Lose job. Lose benefits. Lose pension. Indicted….. that’s how they keep people quiet.
Whether it for incompetent personnel, understaffing or hatred of Pres Trump, they won’t let that cat out of the bag.
There is one thing that they will allow. If they can determine or fabricate that the Agent In Charge is loyal to President Trump they will pin the failure on that person and there’s nothing that person can do or say to defend themself. They’ll be allowed to retire, pension, benefits as long as they take it on the chin and keep their mouth shut.
YES!!! That was my first question. Police claimed in one article they could not see the shooter; you are going to tell me the local police or sheriff does not have any drones? Two drones could have blanketed that event, and a single drone operator could have stopped it. This reeks of total incompetence or purposeful negligence.
some are claiming local police killed shooter.
Agreed. And I’ll guess the latter.
TPTB hate him that much.
I recall participating in 6 Nuclear Surety Inspections at a nearby Nike Hercules battery, as an augmentee. The out briefing was always attended by the entire chain of command, to include the Deputy CG of 32nd AADCOM.
Should the battery fail, he was there to relieve the chain of command up to and including the Group Commander. I’ve never experienced pucker factor like that.
“This is an obviously catastrophic failure and NO excuses should be made, or even attempted,” Bongino posted
This guy might be one of Trumps “old retired bankers”.
Agree, this was no failure. It’s policy.
