Far-left Judge Juan Merchan delayed President Trump’s ‘hush money’ sentencing until September 18.
Earlier Tuesday Alvin Bragg’s office agreed to delay Trump’s sentencing set for July 11 after the Supreme Court decided on presidential immunity.

Judge Merchan said he will issue a ruling related to the presidential immunity argument on September 6.

The judge in Donald Trump’s New York criminal trial on Tuesday approved a delay of the former president’s sentencing after his lawyers asked for more time to review the potential impact of the Supreme Court’s immunity decision.
Trump’s lawyers have indicated that they want Judge Juan Merchan to toss out Trump’s felony conviction on 34 counts of falsified business records related to hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels. The hearing, previously scheduled for July 11, will be delayed until at least September 18.

Apparently the question concerns some of the evidence used in the prosecution that came from the time Trump was president. If any of the evidence (communications, texts, etc.) were in any way part of Trump’s official acts, then it cannot be used as evidence in a prosecution even for charges based on non-official acts. They will have to determine A) if any of the evidence actually came from Trump’s official acts and B) if the charges would still stand if that evidence is removed.
At a minimum, if the evidence is determined toco e from official acts, I would expect Trump’s lawyer to demand a retrial with that evidence excluded, assuming the indictment could survive without the evidence allowed. Since the jury was allowed to hear that evidence, the case was prejudiced by information the jury should not have had.

It’s not just the immunity decision, Merchan’s behavior ran afoul of many judicial processes, including his jury instructions that told jurors, “you don’t need to convict unanimously, pick your crime and as long as you all think he’s guilty of the crime you’re thinking, then guilty he is, 6-6, or 4-4-4 guilty is guilty (obviously paraphrasing).

Will Merchan finally reveal what felony Trump was found guilty of on Sept. 6, or will that remain a secret?

Merchan will rule if there was error, it was not prejudicial to Trump. This nasty political hack has done nothing right in this case so far, and he won’t start doing an honest job now because SCOTUS ruled in Trump’s favor in another matter.

Those odds are increasing everyday, and Merchan is starting to get the picture. I hope Trump appoints a bulldog to clean up DOJ and rights the wrongs.

Congratulations to Alvin Bragg and his able assistant, Judge Merchan, uncovering crimes in the hush money case - $130,000 worth of extortion of the defendant by a porn star accusing the defendant and grand larceny of $60.000 stolen from the defendant by defendant’s former lawyer, now accusing the defendant, Will there be a victim’s impact statement at the sentencing?. Oh, that’s right, there is not an individual or institutional victim on the planet that was harmed by the defendant’s lawfare charge. However, much like Mayor Washington wanting to charge Hyundai for manufacturing cars, oh so stealable, rather than charging the persons stealing them, the only victim in the courtroom, the defendant, may be available to make a victim’s statement that he was the devil than made the porn star and disbarred lawyer extort and steal from him.

It is becoming clear to even the loony left that the SC will strike down all this nonsense whenever it looks too much like election interference - and everyone knows that is all it is.
That is why they are delaying sentencing - they don’t want to force the SC into an action that will shut them down completely.
Instead, they will drag out the “Trump is a Felon” PR narrative as long as possible. My guess is that, come September, they will delay it again.
I fear the worst. Merchan will sentence Trump to the maximum prison term on each count and immediately remand him into custody to keep him locked up through the whole campaign.
Merchan needs to be terrified of the consequences of the fire he has been playing with.
