American geologist Frank Kimbler ,passionate about ufology, has been searching with a metal detector since 2010 the area around the town of Roswell in New Mexico, famous for the fact that a strange object fell from the sky there in 1947.
Officially, the US authorities stated that it was a secret military weather balloon that monitored nuclear weapons tests. However, most ufologists and ordinary people believe that an alien ship with a crew crashed there.
That the wreckage of the ship was taken away by the military and subsequently carefully studied, and among the crew there were one or two survivors, who were then interrogated and received a lot of valuable information from them.
This theory is supported by the words of several dozen people, some of whom, as they say, were involved in transporting the debris, studying the bodies of the dead crew , or even talked with a surviving alien.

Except Roswell is in New Mexico. And they were doing nuclear testing there in 1945.
Today’s aliens can’t speak English, yet they spoke English?
I’ll look it up to watch. Thanks!
Oops, the student driver isn’t getting his UFO pilot license!! 🤓
They speak using telepathy.
Maybe, Joe's uncle was eaten by aliens!! Not cannibals!! 🤓
I lived in Roswell in 1959, 1960 then was stationed at Walker AFB 1966-1967. Heard NOTHING about flying saucers and such nonsense.
It became popular after 1967 when the air base closed down and Roswell lost it’s main source of income. They then became a Tourist Trap to bring in visitors.
Over the years several other towns have used the UFO shtick to bring in tourist dollars.
About twenty years ago one of the DirecTV TV science shows had a program in which metal detectors were used at the official “crash” site. Several items were recovered. Former NM governor Bill Richardson gave credence to the work done. The narrator then said these would be examined and a report made published. Again that was about 20 years ago. I have not heard a word since.
“My theory is the UFO crash was the cover story.”
The problem with that is that the crashes were all hidden from the public except for the brief newspaper story in Roswell in 1947.

INCORRECT
That the wreckage of the ship was taken away by the military and subsequently carefully studied, and among the crew there were one or two survivors, who were then interrogated and received a lot of valuable information from them, including things about propulsion, particularly intrastellar propulsion, which scientists of the time found very interesting, however, security concerns prevent us from publishing those details, despite the fact that the details could be represented in a tongue that English-speakers would be especially challenged to learn, which is a separate topic for another days discussion, which is not a dodge, it's true, apparently it is very hard to understand the time tenses, which we view linearly because of how we view time, but it seems that the aliens view time substantially differently, which really explains Los Angeles, California and Boulder, Colorado, which by the way, if you add an 'I' to the state of Colarado, it becomes ColoRADIO which would be a sweet name for a radio company but would only kinda work in the 1950's or so.
Back in the mid 90s my wife and I visited the Roswell crash site. The land was owned by a man named Hub Corn. We had to sign a waiver, and then he drove us back to the site. I have lots of pictures. I don’t know what, if anything, actually happened that night back in ‘47, but it was cool to be right there.
My theory is it was a top secret experimental military aircraft that crashed and the dead pilot was badly burned, this looking like an alien. Military pilots are typically small in stature.

Yes, and it worked. They let the UFO enthusiasts run with and do their work for them. Everyone was looking for aliens while the truth was right in front of them.
BFL
The “alien” craze from the late 1940s and 1950s was based on real experiences from real people.
You may not believe that—but that is the way it was.
Here is one example:

I used to be into that UFO stuff when I was a kid. Read Adamski and Frank Edwards books, believed there really were aliens visiting us. Not anymore. It’s been over 75 years since the Kenneth Arnold sightings and there has never been tangible proof.
Science is excellent at studying stuff that is dumb.
It is really bad at studying something smarter than the scientists.
It is like ants who can’t prove that humans exist.
We must not exist.
:-)
“It is like ants who can’t prove that humans exist.
We must not exist.”
Stupid reasoning. There has never been real evidence that alien spacecraft are visiting our planet.
“Real evidence” is in the eye of the beholder.
There are many thousands of folks who claim they have met and communicated with aliens.
You can dismiss all of them if you wish.
“You can dismiss all of them if you wish.”
I said tangible evidence so I sure will dismiss those claims.
“Tangible” is one form of evidence.
In a courtroom witness testimony is allowed as one form of “evidence”.
There have also been alien implants as well as ground traces of craft if that is your thing.
Radar tracking is another form of “evidence”—lots of that.
Then there are UFOs that have turned missile silo systems on and off in front of human witnesses—that is another form of “evidence”.
If you don’t like those there are cattle mutilations, crop circles etc etc etc.
There is some fakery in all of that—but again it all depends on what you count as “physical evidence”.
