According to the mathematician [Immanuel Niven], the "Putin system" is beginning to collapse, exactly what he predicted mathematically already in March: "The announced drastic tax increases in Russia (the highest tax increases in the history of modern Russia) as well as Putin's recently published slogans (according to which "everyone must work as if they were at the front") are dramatic signs that the toxicity of the Russian war economy is reaching a critical level."
In a post on X some days ago, he explained what this 'toxicity' means: "If the cost of replacing material losses (in such a way that the speed of replacement is in balance with the speed of losses) is no longer within the scope of the financing of the state budget, then a system becomes unfinanceable. This unfinanceability is toxic for a system because it causes the system to collapse in the medium term (unless the war is won)."
Niven explains further that Russia is familiar with this type of toxicity: "The USSR collapsed when the costs of the arms race (pushed by US President Ronald Reagan) could no longer be financed from the state budget, which led to the collapse of the state." ...

We must provide the reasoning and the cash.
My brother to his dying day loved the written word.
I have come to love the English language, and others.
This is what happened during World War II to the Japan and German as their economies were destroyed by the Allies. As their economies shrunk, and the resources and labor needed to run the war grew, all parts of the economy had huge increases in cost and time. This caused increasing delays, inefficiencies and mistakes in production and ability to run their countries and war efforts. The result was their economies simply burned out.In a post on X some days ago, he explained what this 'toxicity' means: "If the cost of replacing material losses (in such a way that the speed of replacement is in balance with the speed of losses) is no longer within the scope of the financing of the state budget, then a system becomes unfinanceable. This unfinanceability is toxic for a system because it causes the system to collapse in the medium term (unless the war is won)."
This is now catching up to Russia. Their main source of revenue, oil and gas, is decreasing while having higher production costs. The war in Ukraine is increasing government consumption of all resources, especially the lives of young men. A million middle class and skilled labor Russians having fled the country only makes this worse. Then there is the corruption in the military where Shoigu and the top of the Russian military embezzle 20% of military spending and corruption is normal all the way down to the lowest ranks.
Niven states that Russia is big, but Putin is not strong. Ukraine isn't going to win as much as Russia is going to economically burn out and lose. When Russia burns out, Putin's political position will weaken, which is what he fears. Weakened strongmen do not last long in Russian politics.
Oh, I’m stealing that.
“We’ve got him now!”
LOL!!! I stole it from kiryandil.
You can tell your stories, but Russia isn’t going away or going to collapse anytime soon.
They border Ukraine and have time & geography on their side.
Thank you - For how long have we referenced that movie?
LOL
I was soooo expecting the cat
It is very hard for a system operating within the auspices of a central bank to collapse.
The Soviets had a central bank that was constrained in money creation by law. Money created must align with the Interior Ministry’s 5 year plan. They needed more money and foolishly locked themselves into believing money had to conform to any meaning.
Russia’s CB is not similarly constrained. They are empowered to do what Bernanke did when the entire US system was at risk. Just create money and distribute it.
It doesn’t have to make sense. It just has to keep the wheels turning.
LOL
Is that originally from an actual show where that woman was actually pointing at the cat?
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and no, she wasn’t pointing at the cat [Smudge the cat].
Oh LOL
The zeepers got those old yellow stain blues.
Referencing that movie is a tradition here.
