As former President Donald Trump looks to the U.S. Supreme Court for answers on his claims of presidential immunity, a Republican group has launched an ad campaign in opposition.
Republicans for the Rule of Law launched a $2 million TV ad campaign featuring conservatives arguing that the Supreme Court should reject the former president's immunity claim.
Supreme Court justices are considering a case involving Trump and whether presidents have immunity from criminal prosecutions. Trump's team argued that the president must have immunity for a functioning democracy to flourish, while the attorney for the federal government argued that presidents don't enjoy blanket criminal immunity.

A President has to have a wide range of immunity as President. If not, the opposing party would stop him at every turn no matter the policy implemented, words spoken, or action taken. That's been the precedent for decades. This is just another "Trump" exception to previously accepted rules and laws.
It's a bit like the executive privilege that all previous Presidential advisors have enjoyed. Suddenly, courts have decided that anyone who advised President Trump has to 'spill the beans' on any policy decision and are liable for some crime if they fail to so do. Of course, that doesn't apply to Biden and his advisors or appointees.
Of course “Republicans” are doing this. Although they have no intention of using it on an actual traitorous criminal like pedojoe and his crime family.
Republicans for Corruption sponsored the ad
Did Liz Cheney organize it?
Exactly right.
What rules do you want to set for claims against Barak Obama and Joe Biden?
I do not think the answer can be predicted.
NEVER TRUMPERS. 🙄
“Republicans for Corruption sponsored the ad”
Nailed it!
The GOPe doesn’t form groups that fund ads without approval from at least some of the “big guys” in the party. Or former big guys. Maybe Paul Ryan? Or speaking of big, maybe Chris Christie. The Bush clan?
Found it!
“Republicans for the Rule of Law is the principal initiative of the conservative, anti-Donald Trump political group Defending Democracy Together, founded by Bill Kristol, Mona Charen, Linda Chavez, Sarah Longwell, and Andy Zwick in 2019.”
All never-Trumpers and has-beens.
These guys are as “conservative” as anyone supporting expanded abortion rights ...
If Trump doesn’t have immunity, neither do his predecessors. I, for one, would LOVE to see the raid on Dick Cheney.
“If Trump doesn’t have immunity, neither do his predecessors. I, for one, would LOVE to see the raid on Dick Cheney.”
If the President doesn’t have immunity for his communications and actions then neither do members of Congress.
Let’s go for Liz Cheney as well.
The Never Trumpers want President gone more than the Democrats. While he was in Office, by getting rid of all the graft he could, he hit them in the pocked book hard. When they installed Biden, he restarted it. Ukraine is a Money Laundering Operation for the Republican and Democratic Parties.
Front group or nut-jobs. Either way, we need a lot more baseball bat justice in this nation.
The Trump Era has exposed a lot of fraudulent people & organizations hiding under the banner of “Republicans or Conservatives.”
If the 45th President fails to accomplish anything else, this was still a great achievement.
“Waking up to reality has its benefits.”
I don’t think anyone will be shocked to know one of the principle backers of this campaign ad is Bill Kristol and his group that calls themselves Defending Democracy Together. The group also includes Mona Charen and Linda Chavez.
“Republicans for the Rule of Law”
More like Alleged GOPeers for Long TDS.
Nope. No surprise there. Kristol is still trying to be relevant. Conservatives don’t want him so he is attempting to prove his “creds” with the left.
As an aside, SCOTUS has an opinion day scheduled for Thursday. They just this afternoon added an additional opinion day for this week which will be on Friday.
I’ll try to remember to post a thread here as the opinions are announced on both Thursday and Friday.

“founded by Bill Kristol” ... That says it all
When Julius Caesar couldn’t get legislation through a stubborn Senate.
Street thugs started beating the crap out of Roman Senators.
“Just Saying.”
