I had to get one when I moved to a new state, for someone who hasn’t flown since before all this security stuff started, it is bizarre to watch the parallel ID paths of the last quarter century.
The core Americans are required to meet a futuristic sci-fi version of personal identification and security procedures and body searches while literally 10s of millions of unknown foreign people come in and move about freely without so much as a passport or any ID at all, yet they live, work, rent housing, move about freely, among us.

IN NYS, many opt for the “Enhanced Drivers License” which allows entry into Canada. Not sure why people go there, but they need it. The Enhanced is a step up from the “Real ID”.
