Kaitlan Collins @kaitlancollins

A New York appeals court has just denied Trump's motion challenging his gag order. "We find that Justice Merchan properly weighed petitioner’s First Amendment Rights against the court’s historical commitment to ensuring the fair administration of justice in criminal cases..."

“..historical commitment to ensuring the fair administration of justice in criminal cases...”

How many lies are in that one sentence?

As said before...time to expel New York from the Union.

There’s nothing American about the place.

Illogical decision. Just because it has “historical precedent” does not mean it’s right. Historical precedent can mean it rains sometimes on the weekend. Historical precedent IS NOT A LAW.

They should have ruled on a law that you can articulate.

Poor decision, just a continuation of NY LAWFARE.

Is that the next step from this NY Appeals court?
May it be requested on an expedited basis (not that the USSC has to take it or move fast)?

The entire New Jerk state judiciary is outing itself as partisan clowns.

There is no law in New Jerk state - bring your own mercenaries if you have to deal with the NY cartel black-robed clowns.

This is great news for Trump. At this point, the more unfair they are to him the better it works for him.

President Trump is engaged in multi front lawfare in NY, DC and Florida. The big show at the moment is the immunity case before SCOTUS

Central to Trump argument is that immunity was intended to prevent malicious prosecution of a President after they have left office.

This is exactly what is happening to Trump right now and you can bet the Justices are watching the various miscarriages of justice and abuses of our court system very closely.

The more over the top and insanely the Democrats pushed this, the greater the pressure on the Supreme Court to reign things in

“fair administration of justice in criminal cases” means FAIR TO THE DEFENDANT, not the Judge, his familia or the prosecution. The total opposite of what these whacked-out NY courts seem to think. This is not due process of law; this is dictatorial edict.

Why anyone stays in NY state is beyond me!
Are there any redeeming qualities, other than the landscape of the upstate?

Would be tuff to get a Writ of Cert granted unless SCOTUS believes this type of situation will rear its ugly head again & again repeatedly in other cases

Anything South of the Catskills is a no go zone.

Since when was a gag order used to protect the government from a defendant?

no- you’re misunderstanding. we need an appeal to a higher court that follows the law to put precedent on the books.this garbage from inbred NY political judges is typical and i imagine, expected. onward.

historical

Historical. Historical, you know. Like Dred Scott.

Whenever my empathy for New York hits rock bottom, they always manage to dig a little deeper.

In addition it’s redundancy, basing a decision or ruling on “historical precedent” is a not-so-clever way of saying, “If you don’t like the ruling, don’t blame me!”
