IMO he was bought and paid for before 2016. He was so good in his role that his base excused away all the “mistakes”.
Fewer will be fooled this time around, but of course we’ve no viable option—and it’s better to at least register an ideological vote than to not vote at all.
I’m definitely still voting for him. However, I can’t think of a topic I disagree with him more than this one. It betrays a naivete that I find disconcerting.
I don’t agree he was ever ‘bought off.’ He just has serious blind spots when it comes to who his enemies are...

If that were true, the powers that be wouldn't have rigged the 2020 election and wouldn't be trying to imprison him.
How do you buy off a guy who can pay a half billion dollar bail? Maybe you just pay him it McDonald’s burgers and then promise him eight years of relentless investigations and attempts to jail him in order to sweeten the pot?
