Judge Aileen Cannon on Monday night postponed a key deadline in the classified documents case after Special Counsel Jack Smith admitted to tampering with evidence.
Cannon temporarily stayed a May 9 deadline for President Trump and his co-defendants Walt Nauta and Carlos de Oliveira related to CIPA.
NEW: Based on new revelations of evidence disruption and potential tampering, Judge Cannon has postponed a key deadline in classified docs case. This is related to special guidance (CIPA) in classified docs matters.

President Trump’s attorneys wrote a letter to Jack Smith about his confession that classified documents are not in its original form.
“Your failure to disclose the spoliation of this evidence until this month is an extraordinary breach of your constitutional and ethical obligations. Since the beginning of this case, our strategy, preparations, and arguments have been based on the basic premise that — biased as Jack Smith is in his futile efforts to help President Biden make up lost ground in the polls — the line prosecutors and agents would employ the minimal levels of professionalism and competence necessary to preserve evidence relating to the documents at the center of the charges,” Trump’s lawyer wrote to the special counsel’s team.

Congratulations President Trump !
Motion to Dismiss imminent.
We all questions the Documents spewed on the floor...yet not one of them told us anything about their “CURRENT’ status as of the date of the raid. Remember...Biden can reclassify every one of them.
Maybe she’ll dismiss with prejudice?
These judges play not to break the fragile egg shells. Instead of throwing out these fraudulent cases they play kick the can down the road delay rulings.
Is this a jury trial?
So true, the SC will use any opening to kick the can.i
Judge Cannon is doing the right thing and her conduct has been stellar so far.
It’s not a trial, it’s a poorly scripted amuture theater production.
She’s kneeling on the ball, running out the clock. And she keeps this case tied up and removes his options to try again after a dismissal.
She smart and keeping that crook Smith tied up.
All this points to the fact that evidence could indeed have been planted.
Bet on it.
That pretty much nails it! It is fairly unknown the effort Jack Smith made to avoid having Judge Cannon assigned to his prosecution; he and Jay Bratt, DoJ/FBI, knew that to pull off their scam they needed a sympathetic judge. Someone in the Southern District of Florida understood their ploy and assured that Cannon was assigned.
Judge Cannon might have grounds at this point to dismiss the case, my legal knowledge does not extend that far. But would Smith appeal for another judge - OR try to transfer the case to a D.C. trial judge? I think You are correct - Judge Cannon can keep delaying prosecution until it does not effect the November election, giving the appearance that she is fairly dealing with the issues of both sides.
Smith has maintained a D.C. grand jury for obvious reasons {indicting a ham sandwich}, just to establish an end run around Judge Cannon. I originally thought that she might order that grand jury shut down; instead she has patiently tolerated this somewhat unusual procedure.
Smith would probably like to transfer at least some of the case to a D.C. trial judge where he can easily have Donald Trump found guilty of espionage and mass murder; I suspect that he knows that Judge Cannon is prepared to deal with that loop hole.
I don’t know whether it will be a jury or bench trial, but it is not even to the stage of selecting a jury or declaring a bench trial yet. These are still pretrial discovery and other motions I believe, IMHO.
confesses to a felony. With what expectation? It’s a disbarring and criminally prosecutable offense that would terminate any cop’s career and send him to prison. And now that I mention it, why is Kim Gardner still not in prison?
The case should be dismissed? Can Jack Smith be charged with prosecutorial misconduct? Of course he won’t.
Maybe Julie Kelly will be on War Room tonight and provide more info
Rumors about Smith working for the ICC and his reason for being severed from his prosecutorial duties include suspicion that he was blackmailing some of his investigative targets in return for which he would withhold evidence that might be used against them.
His area of operation was the Balkans, ripe for finding serious crimes against the state and against humanity!👈
And making Jackboot Smith look like the fake-phoney-fraud that he is.
