Article Dig Deeper Tesla will layoff "more than 10%" of its global workforce as the company prepares for its "next phase of growth," CEO Elon Musk announced on Monday.
The decision could impact as much as 14,000 employees, according to Electrek.
"Over the years, we have grown rapidly with multiple factories scaling around the globe. With this rapid growth there has been duplication of roles and job functions in certain areas. As we prepare the company for our next phase of growth, it is extremely important to look at every aspect of the company for cost reductions and increasing productivity," Musk said in an email to staff.

There is at least one thing he hates more, which is keeping his mouth shut.
A huge part of his company’s woes has come from him alienating his liberal activist customer base.
I, too, believe China will takeover the global EV market. But I don’t see China taking over the U.S. EV market. Us Americans still love our larger cars.
Electric vehicles simply aren't feasible despite all the mandates and subsidies they receive. That's the reason for Tesla's layoffs. The real Tesla is probably pissed that his name is attached to a crappy brand.

IMHO, when he hears conservatives praise him a lot (i.e. for free speech) he makes sure to state his support for more carbon taxes. When he hears Dims praise him for things like carbon taxes, he states that all things "trans" are stupid. I believe he doesn't want to be categorized as either one side or the other and he does whatever it takes to not be put into either box.
Beside, Tesla has other problems, mainly that the EV fad is over. Pretty much everybody who wanted an EV to save the world or whatever has already bought one.
IMHO we'll never take charge of the climate hoax. There's too much indoctrination. Plus, even if we do make sense nationally and in red states, the Dim states and leftist controlled nations will still push the warmageddon cult hoax and have too much say on the car market and the gas refinery market. (Exhibit A: how California's influence on gas and car regulations impact the car manufacturing and oil refining nationally.)
Bull crap like that is why I have both an EV car and a gas pickup, even though I live in red state Alabama. We do most of our driving in the EV (26K miles last year, with 16K of those charged at home). That saves us a lot on gas. Bonus points by the fact that we have tons of solar that produced 83% of all the power we consumed last year (including charging the EV). The gas pickup is still handy for pickup chores, or times my wife and I split up for the day and need 2 cars, or for if we decide to drive on a trip that wouldn't be good for an EV.
I wouldn't be surprised if more married couples who own their home and live in the south and drive a lot get an EV and solar like we do. It's a sweet feeling to be 80% energy independent so the Dims' stupid warmageddon cult energy policies impact my financial freedom only 20% as much as before.
Maybe virtue signaling with a Tesla is becoming passé.
One of my relatives owns one and says he spends an inordinate amount of time struggling to keep it charged up - and searching for charging stations when he travels. Once he gets there, the chargers are down, out of order, or have been vandalized.
We recently parked behind a row of chargers - every single one of the nozzles had been vandalized.
A week ago today was the eclipse in NH, VT, etc. Everyone had driven north to watch it.
Everyone drove south after it ended clogging I93 through Franconia Notch state park where the interstate drops to one lane in each direction.
Traffic backed up. A normal three hour drive became six plus. People literally ran out of gas and charge.
The news showed some charging station where there was a 2 1/2 hour wait to charge. That right there is a life lesson.
Meanwhile the usage of carbon based fuels continue to increase across the world. Petroleum, natural gas, coal, propane all continue to increase in usage. The only time the chart went down was during covid.
We have just shifted much of the industrial use of coal to China and India. Away from the US and Europe(except Germany recently).
Third world countries are also building dams on their rivers.
Other countries are building nuclear power plants.

The "Climate Change Hoax" is, IMO, akin to "Submarine Races"... there's always enough GULLIBLE souls around to keep the jocular event alive and hanging around... but NEVER enough to make it mainstream!

It’s about practicality. A key issue is the availability of fast chargers - the closest an EV can get to the gasoline car experience. Tesla has more of these than any other make. If you want an EV that can theoretically do the Great American Road Trip without spending half your time charging, the Tesla is the only game in town.
