It is NOT just home buying RENTING a place has become ridiculous young people can NOT afford to get out on their own anymore!! I am in CA. so I know it is especially high here HOWEVER a studio apt. is VERY CLOSE to $3,000 a month with first, last and security deposit that is $10,000 just to move into an apt..

Yup. I’m in MA and my youngest daughter is still at home. She has a pretty decent job, but there are almost no apartments in our area (pretty rural) and the ones that are “available” are about $2500 a month. Not affordable. The expectation seems to be that young people will either buy a house or live in Mom’s basement. And since houses in our area start north of $500,00 for a starter home, there are a lot of young people living in Mom’s basement.
