Dollar Tree and its subsidiary, Family Dollar, will close 1,000 stores following a net loss of $1.71 billion over three months, the discount retailer said Wednesday.
The company plans to close about 600 Family Dollar stores in the first half of this year and allow about 370 Family Dollar stores and 30 Dollar Tree stores to close over the next few years at the end of their lease terms.
The company opened 641 new stores, including 333 Dollar Trees and 308 Family Dollars, last fiscal year, which ended on Feb. 3, 2024.

If i had to guess, it’s hard to stay profitable when half your product walks out the door without a financial transaction.
Right you are..I watch with fascination the greed factor slowly destroys businesses. Started by covid shutdown, companies from burger joints and restaurants, and low income stores like dollar tree and dollar general jack up prices, never to go down again, pricing the poorest or the retired to stop buying. Many do not realize, that fixed incomes, and goat subsidies do not raie incomes as the stores raise their prices. Dollar menus have vanished. Senior discounts disappear, and a the latest generations go into retirement, and illegal aliens invade our country, businesses are closing stores or going out of business because of a failed economic decision brought on by greed. I am watching it happen every day and it’s sad.

When Dollar Stores start losing business, you know the economy’s in trouble....
Dollar Store is a different entity.
But the old shouting guy on TV last week said our economy is doing great.
Those things have been popping up all over the place over the last few years. The problem is they are building them in towns with very few residents. There is a reason there was no grocery store in that little crossroad town. There’s not enough money/income to make them profitable.
Business 101
how to make a profit...
I was replying to the previous poster’s question of where Carl would get his potted meat now...............
Dollar Tree has a nice $5 knockoff of the Apple wireless earbuds, charging case (micro USB connector, so you may need to pick up one of those cables while you're there), good battery life, decent sound. Charge them in the case overnight before using. You'll probably have to hunt to find them, or order 20 for $125 (plus shipping) off the website. There are two (soon three) wireless earbuds there, thee item I've used is linked in my tagline.
