Imagine you are Chris Bort, the acting chief of the ATF Firearms Ammunition Technology Division and you are struggling to disassemble a Glock style handgun during a TV interview. In fact you are struggling so much that you come off as either an unknowledgeable klutz or another Inspector Clouseau. This laughably embarrassing episode took place on "Face The Nation."
PING!
Well...he is “acting” chief.
That’s why they use explosives when raiding houses full of women and children.
Oh my! I thought I was acting Chef!! I’ll whip you up an omelet.
Hickock does it like it’s nothing.
But if he works at the ATF, he should know the basics like how do field strip a Glock.
My bet is that he didn't first press the trigger to drop the firing pin before trying to take the slide off, so the sear was holding the firing pin back and as a consequence, also holding the slide back.
Rookie mistake.
No shock to me. Exactly what I would expect.
Nope, I was wrong. In the video he drops the firing pin after racking the slide on two different tries. he just couldn’t pull the takedown tabs far enough.
Bkmk
>> What does it say about the current ATF when their own firearms tech chief struggles to disassemble a gun?
He basically understands how to disassemble it, but you can’t do it with the striker cocked. I have forgotten about that a time or two myself.
Nevertheless, it’s funny as hell to watch him struggle.
It would be more productive, if not as funny, to watch him and a thousand other BATF struggle with finding employment after being fired from the agency.
That’s a great picture. You can tell the dark-haired guy is coming unglued, watching.
This is a nearly universal problem, really.
The people in charge of EVERYTHING seem to be up at the top because they got some sort of degree from an Ivy league school, or they knew somebody, or they are really good at putting little numbers in little cells in big spreadsheets.
The head of ATF? Why should be know anything about guns?
The guy in charge of engineering? Why should he have a background in engineering?
The head of the educational institution? Why do they have to know anything about education?
Our society’s whole conception of “management” or “leadership” is all screwed up. The people in charge don’t know how to do the stuff that they manage. And nobody seems to think that’s odd.
What does it say about the current ATF when their own firearms tech chief struggles to disassemble a gun?

I don’t know if they still do it, but years ago when I was in USMC boot camp we had timed competitions on disassembling and assembling the .45. We even went to blindfolded competitions. We could break the entire weapon down in seconds and reassemble it almost as fast. Great sport!
First time he ever touched a gun or does he call a nug ,LOL
He should have just said, You know the thing.
It tells us that liberals should never be around guns.
Democrats keep their abortions, republicans keep their guns.
Glock and ARs are like legos.
Up to now. I would have said they are idiot proof..
