Guys, we're almost there! We're this close to finally replacing journalists with machines!
Since no one in DC wants to let you know what Congress is voting on until after the vote, and since our corporate press is too lazy and complicit to worry about it, Elon Musk is stepping up to the plate.
Grok, the AI on X, is being outfitted so that it can read, comprehend, and explain the 1,000-page bills that Congress seems to love because it allows them to hide a TON of pork.

Okay, but how much phony stuff is Grok AI going to make up?
Whatever Musk wants. I like Musk doing the free speech on social media thing. But he's against conservative ways in other things like having the government force companies into either paying carbon taxes or by carbon credits from Tesla.
A good use of AI
Exactly.
Yes sounds good… if it works. But wait until it tries to explain the follow-up regulations that twist the underlying laws beyond all recognition and original intent!
.gov loves to talk about transparency but nothing terrifies them more than real transparency.
This has great potential.
Ok, the irony that you are "x" aside, why would he have to "phony stuff", when you could have a side-by-side with the raw text, with the AI summary? Then you simply scroll, or drill-down with keywords, or choose a summary with links to the raw text. CMON MAN.
yes! thank you Elon. now adapt it for detecting election fraud as well.
Mega bump!!!!!
If Grok is not programmed to hide anything, that would be awesome. That might be the AI program I would upload to my phone.
It would be a miracle....
The Federal Regulations are brutal.
Anyone who picks up a CFR and tries to understand it will start crying and calling for their mama.
Some of the stuff is so arcane that even a room full of lawyer subject matter experts can’t agree on what it means. Often the meaning is as bizarre as that famous Clinton quote:
“It depends on the what the meaning of is is.”
What makes it even worse is that most of the language applies to stuff that is never or very rarely used, while critical issues faced every day in the agencies is governed by one paragraph which can be interpreted all kinds of different ways.
AI is going to choke on the regulations.
Agreed.
That is what I think of when I hear ‘Grok”, a wild and hairy beast. That, or a very strong drink made of various and unnamed alcohols, meant to be drank quickly.
Popular in many college towns.
I would still prefer “Grok” to “X” as a brand name.
But Elon has yet to seek my opinion or advice on making money.
AI is really good for this kind of thing. We would be better off using AI to replace each member of Congress since AI would actually make sense out of the insane legislation they write for themselves.
AI would be good for analyzing the legislation then looking at members stock trading activity. IMO at some point this will be done retroactively (simple to do) on past laws that have been implemented.
AI is shaking up the legal industry more than any other industry because just like Musk is pointing out it is very good at looking at static data.
I wonder if Trump and Musk have become a team.
Not any more. It will read through tons of crap and extract and summarize the pork in a neat little column.
