Joe Biden attended a black-tie event at the White House, for governors who were in town for the National Governors Association Winter Meeting.
But his confusion seems to be increasing. Even when he has a teleprompter, the speeches are becoming more rambling and disconnected.
He spoke to the governors about working together to get things done and he referenced a quote from "the man behind me here." He claimed politics has gotten "too bitter." He made an attempt to quote Abraham Lincoln's "better angels of our nature" remark. It did not go well, and I wonder if he even forgot Lincoln's name since he never used it.

And, you know, standing here in front of this portrait of the man behind me here, he — he said — and I want to make sure I get the quote exactly right. He said, “The better angels --" he said, “We must address counsel — and adjust the better angels of our nature.” And we do the — and we do well to remember what else he said. He said, “We’re not enemies, but we’re friends.” This is in the middle of — this is in the — in the part of the Civil War. He said, “We’re not enemies, but we’re friends. We must not be enemies.”
Here's the actual quote:
I am loath to close. We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battle-field, and patriot grave, to every living heart and hearthstone, all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.
Biden is counseling that we should be "friends" even as he demonizes half the country as potential extremists, even as his DOJ prosecutes his political opponent, even as Democrats try to throw that political opponent off the ballot in multiple states. He just claimed that the Republicans were worse than the racist segregationists he used to pal around with. How can anyone take him seriously? The threat to "democracy" isn't from the Republicans.

Then he rambled on with a debunked story about Xi Jinping, who he referred to as the person who is going to be the "head of Russia," before he corrected himself.
Biden again claims he "traveled 17,000 miles" with China's Xi Jinping, who he calls the "head of Russia."
"This has been documented and it's real!"
(It isn't — the story has been repeatedly debunked) pic.twitter.com/jZs07iC4hv— RNC Research (@RNCResearch) February 25, 2024
I’ve spent a lot of time with Xi Jinping — someone whom I have a great deal of difference with. And I was — when I was vice president, President — my — my president was — told me that he wanted me to get to know Xi Jinping because it was clear he was going to be the head of Russia — of — of China and that he — we had a — we were having problems with Russia at the time and other countries as well. And so, what he said was, “Get to know him. He’s going to be there.” I — and he couldn’t because he was the president, and he couldn’t travel. So, I traveled 17,000 miles with him throughout the country — our country and — and in — in China, as well.
He claims this had been "documented" and was "real." But in fact, even the Washington Post has debunked the story and given him three Pinocchios on it. Funny that Biden couldn't remember the country that the guy he has spent so much time with leads. And he never seems to get that saying he's close to Xi is not a recommendation, it's a question mark added to all that has come out regarding his family's relationship with the Chinese.
Then when he was finished with his remarks, he waited there for a moment. No handler came out to tell him where to go, so he said, confused, "I'm right here?"

Unfortunately, this is the image going out to the rest of the world. That's why even Italy had a skit mocking him, and they weren't the first. Bad actors see this and believe that they can act up in the face of such weakness; this is why we have so much chaos around the world.

So I got that going for me
Exactly. There is nothing funny about this. Not for us, the Italians or any other people on earth.
Thanks. BUMP!
“..the man behind me..” By the way “I am not a biologist” either or something but “Ich bin ein Berliner” to all you doubters. Time to exhume Lincoln again and check his embalming fluid for room temperature performance, I guess.
Buying a bag of microwave popcorn for the State of the Union, it will probably last longer than the speech... FJB!
President McGoo had a rough night.
I haven’t done either and never got the needle.
