Attack On Europe: Documenting Russian Equipment Losses During The 2022 Russian Invasion Of Ukraine (2 year anniversary)

This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When a vehicle is captured and then lost in service with its new owners, it is only added as a loss of the original operator to avoid double listings. When the origin of a piece of equipment can't be established, it's not included in the list. The Soviet flag is used when the equipment in question was produced prior to 1991. This list is constantly updated as additional footage becomes available.

“Now that Assad has fallen, there is no political obstacle to building the Qatar-Turkiye gas pipeline.”

Additionally, oil pipelines that bypass the Suez Canal transit fees.

The old Tapline (Trans-Arabian Pipeline) has a well developed right of way along much of the route depicted in your post for the proposed Qatar-Turkiye pipeline - right next to a well developed highway, for fast, easy and inexpensive construction and maintenance.

The Tapline itself was still standing during the Gulf War (when I would festoon it with “Kilroy was Here” graffiti). It seemed that the Saudis maintained and protected it, because police would swoop in out of nowhere, when I got out of my vehicle and approached it. Maybe it might be able to be restored to operation, and possibly extended to some chosen terminus on the Mediterranean. It used to operate to Sidon Lebanon, just North of Haifa in Israel.

“In the Russian city of Ulyanovsk, unknown persons blew up a railway track”

Russia is particularly dependent on rail transport. In many rural areas, the existing road infrastructure is an inadequate alternative.

Assad as much as admitted that he blocked the pipeline at the behest of Putin. Russia is the real barrier to the pipeline (Captain Obvious, I know). Controlling Europe’s energy has been one of Putin’s top geopolitical priorities for decades. He knows that once the Ukraine war is over, Europe will slowly return to Russian gas - unless the Qatar - Turkey pipeline is built. So obviously Russia will do almost anything to block this pipeline.

❄️ Near the snowy fields of Serebryansky Forest, Russian forces try to blend into the snow by wearing white camouflage—but it doesn’t save them.

Using thermal cameras and tracking footprints, operators of the 63rd Brigade locate and eliminate infantry attempting to move toward.

"...once the Ukraine war is over, Europe will slowly return to Russian gas..."

Obviously, Europe will try to return to cheap pipeline gas. Hopefully, the Qatar - Turkey pipeline will be built and Europe will have an alternative to russian gas.

“once the Ukraine war is over, Europe will slowly return to Russian gas - unless the Qatar - Turkey pipeline is built.”

Russia’s installation of a puppet regime in Georgia through election interference also removes/delays more significant non-Russian Trans-Caucasian flows from the Caspian Basin.

Being able to assert that kind of political control over the Ukraine, would be Strategic victory for Russia. So any settlement that leaves Ukraine vulnerable to similar future Russian intimidation or covert de-stabilization, is likely what they will try to salvage in negotiations.

Hopefully. If nothing else, it removes Putin's ability to use energy supply as a weapon.

Are you reporting that Speedy has died?

If he has, please start a thread on the main forum and let people know.

That's the very least you can do.

Wow.

Vindman has reached a new low…by stating that Elon is selling ‘State Secrets’ to Russia.

Should Elon sue Vindman for lying?

Business insider reports (13 Dec 2024):

“Russia’s currency struggles aren’t set to ease, as the main factors driving the ruble’s decline will persist for the foreseeable future, according to researchers at the Carnegie Endowment...

...The fundamental reasons for the ruble’s weakness have not gone anywhere, and the dynamic of Russia’s trade flows means the currency is destined to falter and inflation to rise,” the Carnegie researchers said.”

Kyiv Independent reports:

“Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Dec. 13 that the United States is planning to impose sanctions in the coming days on the country’s sole gas supplier, citing its Russian ownership.

The Petroleum Industry of Serbia (known by its local acronym NIS), primarily owned by Russia’s Gazprom Neft and its parent company Gazprom, is Serbia’s exclusive gas supplier and controls the main pipelines delivering gas from Russia to Serbian households and industries.

“The British are also joining the sanctions, which then means everyone. This is probably one of the hardest pieces of news,” Vucic said during an interview on a government-linked private television station, according to AFP...

...Neither the United States nor the United Kingdom has commented on the reported sanctions....

...the move would significantly impact Serbia, which relies heavily on Russian gas. He noted that Serbia is (was?) negotiating a new gas arrangement with Russia, as the current deal expires in March 2025.”

Looking at the video, those are maybe 8’ seas at worst. Those are not conditions that should cause trouble for any ship. I’ve had my tiny fishing boat out in worse than that, though not intentionally. Apparently Russia has a fleet of these, many similarly modified and subject to such failure.

Kyiv Independent reports:

“British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has emphasized the importance of inflicting “maximum pain” on Russian President Vladimir Putin through additional sanctions and enhanced military support for Ukraine.

Talking during a video conference with G7 leaders, Starmer highlighted Putin’s unwillingness to make concessions and argued for bolstered aid to Ukraine to position the country as strongly as possible for the future. He noted that the international community must increase economic pressure and military assistance to achieve this goal...

...On Dec. 9, the U.K. announced new sanctions targeting the illicit gold trade, which it says finances Russia’s war against Ukraine.

“Russia uses the illicit gold trade to launder money and evade sanctions, in doing so bolstering (Russian President Vladimir) Putin’s war efforts,” the U.K. government said in a press release.”

(I see this as another indicator that Russia has likely been funding its operations by covertly selling their gold reserves, as well as their current production.)

OilPrice.com reports:

“Moldova in State of Emergency Expecting Halt to Russian Gas Supply”

(The Parliament of the country approved a proposal from Prime Minister Dorin Recean to declare a state of emergency, beginning December 16. The vote to declare a state of emergency is a means to end the “gas blackmail” from Russia, according to Moldova’s PM.)

and “Hungary and Bulgaria Try to Keep Russian Gas Flowing”

(US sanctions on Gazprombank have impeded payments, and Ukraine is to halt transshipment on 1 January. Significantly, enough new LNG import capacity has recently been activated in Greece to cover the amount of Russian gas that is to halt.)

and “Venture Global’s New (Louisiana) Plant Set for First LNG Production”

(The new 20 million metric tons per annum (MTPA) export plant was set to draw over 100 million cubic feet (mmcfd) of natural gas for the first time on Thursday, 19 Dec.)
