Attack On Europe: Documenting Russian Equipment Losses During The 2022 Russian Invasion Of Ukraine (2 year anniversary)

This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When a vehicle is captured and then lost in service with its new owners, it is only added as a loss of the original operator to avoid double listings. When the origin of a piece of equipment can't be established, it's not included in the list. The Soviet flag is used when the equipment in question was produced prior to 1991. This list is constantly updated as additional footage becomes available.

Three Russian soldiers set a civilian house on fire and stood nearby, oblivious to the approaching drone.

Their use of fascist tactics, burning homes, quickly resulted in just karma.

https://x.com/wartranslated/status/1854451059147653471

The drone flies close enough to the ruzzians to ID their uniform.

The drone then climbs to release altitude and drops a bomblet on the ruzzians.

[ Russians Suffer a Total Column Wipeout ]

Today [ Nov 07 ], there is a lot of news from the Siversk direction.

Here, in a demonstration of tactical precision, Ukrainian fighters from the famous Edelweiss Brigade showcased a brilliantly structured defensive operation that ensures the destruction of even the largest Russian mechanized assaults. This coordinated defense not only crushed the attacking force, but also set a new benchmark for how fortifications should be designed and defended in modern warfare.

The goal of the Russian operation in this region is to establish control over Siversk, a vital logistics hub for Ukraine and a strategic barrier to assaults against Lyman and Sloviansk.

The city benefits from natural defenses, including the Serebryansky Forest to the northeast, which has been crucial in repelling Russian assaults. To the southeast, several hill ridges further protect the area, with one near Ivano-Darivka serving as a key Ukrainian stronghold.

While the village itself is in a lowland, the surrounding elevated terrain, along with a small river and a large water reservoir, creates a formidable barrier against enemy advances. This part of the frontline is also protected by the well-experienced Ukrainian 10th Mountain Assault Brigade, Edelweiss.

To increase their chances of a successful breakthrough, Russian forces conducted a multi-stage attack.

First, the Russians carried out a series of precision strikes on the supposed locations of Ukrainian personnel and equipment near Sloviansk with Iskander missiles. Immediately after, they intensified the shelling of the hill ridge above Ivano-Darivka, using thermobaric artillery systems to maximize the impact.

Once the artillery preparation was complete, Russian forces initiated a large-scale assault involving 22 armored vehicles, including 7 tanks, 13 BMPs, and 2 MT-LBs, supported by approximately 120 soldiers.

Since Russian forces were controlling the opposing hill ridge and using the village of Berestove as a staging ground for the assaults, their strategy was to advance rapidly along the route from Berestove towards Ivano-Darivka to charge through and seize the strategic stronghold on the hill from the southeast. The Russians decided to avoid the fields due to dense mining.

Despite the intense shelling in the preceding hours, the Ukrainian defenders were well-prepared for this scenario. They detected the Russian column early. However, it is important to note that they did not engage the Russian column immediately. Instead, they waited until the column began driving perpendicular to the Ukrainian stronghold, exposing the entire assault group all at once.

Once all the Russians were in direct view, the Ukrainians engaged the leading vehicle with kamikaze drones, successfully immobilizing it. As the Russian soldiers disembarked from the disabled infantry fighting vehicle, the Ukrainians deployed additional drones to drop grenades on them, effectively neutralizing the threat.

The other Russian vehicles were slowed down but still tried to advance closer to the Ukrainian stronghold. Capitalizing on the high ground, the Ukrainians had strategically positioned their anti-tank guided missile operators, who utilized the domestically produced Stugna-P system to engage the advancing Russian armored column.

Geolocated images from this deadly ambush reveal how multiple Ukrainian ATGM crews opened fire at the Russian vehicles from the left flank, neutralizing them one by one, while surviving Russian troops fled in panic to save their lives.

Once the Ukrainians managed to stop the Russian column around a kilometer in front of Ivano-Darivka, they continued mercilessly targeting the remaining vehicles with FPV drones, ensuring that not a single Russian soldier could make it to the village alive, and preventing any chance of the enemy establishing a foothold there.

In the aftermath of the battle, according to available geolocated footage shared by soldiers of the 10th Ukrainian Brigade, without suffering any casualties themselves, they destroyed 6 out of 7 Russian tanks, 9 out of 13 BMPs, and killed or wounded half of the troops participating in the assault.

Overall, the Ukrainian fighters in this region have created a well-designed defense structure, leveraging the high ground and forcing Russian assault units to expose their flanks during attacks.

Confident in their defense configuration, the Ukrainians also showed great patience, ensuring they did not engage the enemy too early. This allowed them to maximize the damage, destroying 75% of all armor and 50% of manpower within several minutes. This operation set a high standard for defense and serves as an example to emulate for other Ukrainian brigades

...First, the Russians carried out a series of precision strikes on the supposed locations of Ukrainian personnel and equipment...

Once again, the dumb ruzzians used their same old strategies & tactics.

The Russians decided to avoid the fields due to dense mining.

The fields were also muddy, so the ruzzians were using roads...easy to target vehicles & troops.

...without suffering any casualties themselves, they (UKF) destroyed 6 out of 7 Russian tanks, 9 out of 13 BMPs, and killed or wounded half of the troops participating in the assault.

Kudos to UKF, especially target intel.

UKF certainly had advance warning of this attack.

Speaking of Poland, with apologies if this has already been posted:

U.S. State Department Clears $7.3 Billion for F-16 Viper Mid-Life Upgrade
By Frank Wolfe | October 31, 2024

The U.S. State Department has approved an up to $7.3 billion foreign military sale to Poland of the Lockheed Martin F-16 Viper Midlife Upgrade, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said on Wednesday.

“The proposed sale will allow Poland to modify and upgrade its existing F-16 aircraft to the new Viper configuration,” DSCA said. “The F-16 Viper Midlife Upgrade (MLU) will bolster Poland’s air defense and surveillance capabilities, support national security, and strengthen Poland’s defense and contributions to NATO.”

The MLU equipment includes 58 Improved Programmable Display Generators, a variety of test missiles, 58 Northrop Grumman AN/APG-83 Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) Scalable Agile Beam Radars (SABR), 58 Embedded Global Positioning System (GPS) Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) (EGI) with Selective Availability Anti-Spoofing Module (SAASM) or M-Code capability and Precise Positioning Service, and 73 Northrop Grumman AN/ALQ-257 Integrated Viper Electronic Warfare Suites (IVEWS), or 73 AN/ALQ-254V(1) L3Harris Technologies‘ Viper Shield advanced electronic warfare suites or an equivalent.

In 2022, the Air Force chose IVEWS over Viper Shield to equip the service’s F-16s, but L3Harris said that it believes Viper Shield is a good fit in the future for F-16s.

Last month, L3Harris said that its site in Clifton, N.J., recently began the build of 166 Viper Shields for F-16 fighters in six countries under a total Viper Shield backlog of $1 billion.

Will the SVO end next year?

After Donald Trump’s victory in the American elections [ https://t.me/kremlin_secrets/4867 ], we asked our friends in the Kremlin, the Ministry of Defense and a number of other ministries with this question. In total, we spoke with more than 30 sources. And we got these results from this impromptu opinion poll.

54% of interlocutors categorically do not believe that the SVO will end next year. They basically believe that “Trump is not our friend.” And that the returning American President will not agree to Russian conditions for a cessation of hostilities.

19% fear a worsening of the situation - an increase in the supply of Western weapons to the Kiev regime, attacks deep into our territory, and serious pressure on Russia from the United States.

8% claim that “Trump is our guy, and under him, the CVO will definitely end next year. If not our complete Victory, then some significant success” (as a high-ranking source in the AP said).

The remaining 19% refused to make predictions.

Let us separately note several interesting answers from our interlocutors.

Thus, one of Andrei Belousov’s deputies said: “Trump is more our guy than Biden. But I would be asinine to offer him our terms of peace. He’s inadequate, he can even respond with some nasty things. And the conditions of the Americans are unlikely to suit us. So let’s fight.”

And a government source hopes that the SVO will end next year, “otherwise there will be things in the economy that I don’t want to talk about.”

By the way, an interesting fact: none of the sources would tell us whether Vladimir Putin sent a letter to Trump, as he had previously planned [ https://t.me/kremlin_secrets/4841 ].

Four North Korean soldiers were shot at the front because of blasphemy

An extremely unpleasant emergency occurred in one of the settlements of the Kursk region, our sources in the Ministry of Defense reported. They refused to name the specific location so as not to give information to the enemy.

According to one of the interlocutors, the North Korean fighters stayed in a private house abandoned by the owners. There their attention was attracted by the icon of the Savior Not Made by Hands, which lay on the table. “Koreans are wild, they decided that this was a beautiful tray. They laid out their rations on it and started eating. They smeared the entire icon,” the source said.

The military was caught eating by an officer who turned out to be a deeply religious man. He reprimanded them in a rude manner for blasphemy. The Koreans “answered rudely and incomprehensibly, in their own language.” As a result, a conflict arose, our military man took out a pistol and shot the desecrators of the icon - all four were killed.

Serious investigations are being carried out against the officer. In particular, he could not answer the question why he did not have a basic dictionary of the Korean language ( we wrote about its creation earlier [ https://t.me/kremlin_secrets/4808 ] ).

We call for an end to the persecution of the Russian officer. Partners and allies are important, but who could be more important than our military?

Russians report that they lost another Ka-52. Commander is dead, copilot in hospital. There is no disclosure of the circumstances of the loss, but the lacking report of Ukrainian sources claiming the downing of a chopper let me assume that it was a non-combat loss.

The increased non-combat losses of Russian aerial vehicles, especially helicopters, is reminiscent to non-combat losses of armies in previous wars, where an increased lack of spare parts, production issues but also decreased training and flight time start taking a heavier toll on pilots and their gear, slowly exceeding actual combat losses.

Donald Trump wants to cut global oil prices in half. If it happens, this could seriously hurt Russia.

One of Trump’s key elections promises was to increase domestic oil production in the US and thus reduce oil prices to about $40 a barrel. According to his senior campaign aide Jason Miller, this would be one of the incoming President’s first priorities once in office. Russia, which is still dependent on its oil and gas exports to fill its massive military budget, could be hit hard by such a drop in prices.

Already after the news of Donald Trump’s victory broke, oil prices and futures began to trend lower on the market, Reuters reported. This signifies that investors take Trump’s intentions seriously.

Experts disagree on whether Trump will be able to fulfill his promise to halve the prices. Definitely, in the long-term, global events and actions of other oil suppliers, like OPEC countries, could offset any drops orchestrated by the US. However, most admit that in the short- to mid-term, restoring domestic production and repealing Biden’s environmental regulations could increase the supply of oil in the global market and thus drive the prices down – Energy Intelligence projects that by May 2025, the price could reach $50 a barrel.

This would hurt major oil exporters – Russia and Iran among them – as they won’t be able to sell their oil at relatively higher prices, as they did before. If you needed another explanation for the lukewarm reception of Trump’s victory in the Kremlin, this is a fairly good one – Russian elites are rightfully worried about what Trump’s presidency will do to their economy, already fragile because of the sanctions.
