Attack On Europe: Documenting Russian Equipment Losses During The 2022 Russian Invasion Of Ukraine (2 year anniversary)

This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When a vehicle is captured and then lost in service with its new owners, it is only added as a loss of the original operator to avoid double listings. When the origin of a piece of equipment can't be established, it's not included in the list. The Soviet flag is used when the equipment in question was produced prior to 1991. This list is constantly updated as additional footage becomes available.

BREAKING:

North Korea has sent 10 000 soldiers to help Russia boost its war efforts against Ukraine.

- Zelensky said on Oct. 13 that the North Koreans are coming

- In June, Putin travelled to Pyongyang to sign a mutual defense agreement which stipulates that either nation must render military assistance to the other in the event of an attack.

- Yesterday, Putin sent the mutual defense agreement to the Russian State Duma for ratification.

The information about the arrival of 10 000 North Korean soldiers comes from a Western diplomat familiar who spoke with Kyiv Independent.

Before everyone else. Well almost, 10/16/24
https://t.me/bbbreaking/191969

Zelensky presented the “Victory Plan” in the Verkhovna Rada, Ukrainian media report.

1. Inviting Ukraine to NATO before the end of the war.

2. Continuation of operations on Russian territory and lifting restrictions on strikes on its territory. Joint defeat of Russian aviation with partners, expansion of the use of Ukrainian drones and missiles; access to partners’ intelligence data.

3. Deployment of a “non-nuclear deterrent package” on the territory of Ukraine.

4. Development of the strategic and economic potential of Ukraine and strengthening of sanctions against the Russian Federation.

5. After the end of the war, the Ukrainian military can use its experience to strengthen the defense of NATO and Europe. The US contingent in Europe will be able to replace the Ukrainian military.

According to Zelensky, the 2nd, 3rd and 4th points have secret annexes that were presented to the partners, writes the Strana publication.

The Kremlin reacted strangely to Zelensky’s “victory plan”

A strange situation has developed with the so-called “victory plan” of the Kiev regime, which was presented by Vladimir Zelensky.

Almost all sources in the Kremlin ( we haven’t had this for a long time! ) refused to comment on the speech of the enemy President. Only one interlocutor in the AP said the following: “There are some alarming moments there. We will study this plan very carefully. And the possible reaction of the West to it.”

The Ministry of Defense also does not want to comment.

The situation is strange, but we will definitely find out the details and tell you.

100 rubles per dollar is not the limit. Chubais commented on the sensational forecast

It is no secret that the ruble exchange rate is gradually approaching 100 rubles per dollar. The Western agency Bloomberg wrote the day before that this time the Central Bank will not interfere in the situation and will allow the national currency to weaken.

Anatoly Chubais contacted us with a request to publish his commentary on this matter.

“Nabiullina has done a lot to ensure that the exchange rate is now not 150 or 200 rubles per dollar. It is obvious that psychologically society and the authorities are ready to take new heights. This, in principle, does not greatly harm the budget. But, obviously, it will hit the poorest segments of the population,” Chubais believes.

According to him, the mark of 100 rubles per dollar is not a fantasy now and in the future the ruble may fall even further.

“There won’t be any immediate falls, of course. But gradually the dollar will rise in price, and prices will go up with it. Classic inflation,” Chubais said. He did not specify what the dollar will be in the long term, but emphasized that it could reach the level of 110-112 rubles per dollar by the New Year.

Russian Offensive Campaign Assessment, October 15, 2024

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law allowing Russian Investigative Committee Head Alexander Bastrykin to stay in his position despite reaching retirement age (again) demonstrating Putin's continued preference for keeping curated loyalists from his inner circle in positions of power. Putin signed a law on October 14 allowing the Russian head of state (himself) to “extend the term of office of the head of the Investigative Committee who has reached the age of 70.”[15] Bastrykin turned 71 in August 2024 and has held his position since 2011. The previous law stated that the maximum age for Investigative Committee officials was 65 but that Putin could extend this term to 70.[16] Putin has taken similar steps in recent years to raise the retirement ages of government and military officials — current Russian Security Council Deputy Chairperson and then Russian President Dmitry Medvedev lowered the age limit for civil servants from 65 to 60 in 2010, but Putin raised this to 70 in 2013 when he returned to the presidency.[17] Putin also signed laws in 2021 that allowed the president to extend the term of army generals, marshals, fleet admirals, and presidential appointees.[18] Putin's continuous raising of the retirement age allows him to keep those within his inner circle who are loyal to him in positions of power. Bastrykin was notably a classmate of Putin's at university.[19] Bastrykin has also recently positioned himself as a prominent figure in Russia's ultranationalist community, specifically appealing to ultranationalist animus towards migrants.[20] Putin has likely calculated that having a loyalist like Bastrykin rhetorically lead the ultranationalist community is beneficial for the Kremlin's recent wider efforts to appeal to and co-opt this community, and has manipulated the law accordingly.[21] Putin recently promoted younger members of his inner circle, such as 52-year-old Presidential Aide Alexei Dyumin, to positions within the Kremlin, but these younger appointees have also been loyal Putin supporters for decades.[22]

JonPreston: "Rapid Russian Advances: 5.5 times more land seized in two months than all of 2023."

This is worth doing some math to better visualize.

The latest numbers I can find tally up to circa 900 square miles taken by Russians in all of 2024, through mid-October.
Consolidated, that would be an area of 30 miles by 30 miles.
But when stretched out along the entire 745-mile frontline, it only averages to 1.2 miles of advance.

Of those 900 total square miles, about 3/8 came in the August - October period.
It works out to around 22 feet per day, on average for the year, along the entire 745 mile long front.
In September that increased to about 43 feet per day of average overall Russian advance -- but at a reported cost to Russians of around 1,200 casualties per day, or roughly 30 Russian casualties per each foot (745 miles long) of overall advance.

The 900 square miles taken by Russians in 2024 represents less than 1/2 of one percent of Ukraine's remaining ~200,000 square miles.
It represents about 7% of the previously unoccupied portions of Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhya and Kherson Oblasts.

Of course, none of that is insignificant, but it also in no way represents a "collapse" or "destruction" of Ukraine's front lines.

Ukrainian August advances in Kursk reached around 450 square miles, now reportedly reduced to circa 300 square miles.

Every report he gives is as if Stalingrad has been liberated and Germans thrown back to the border

Can’t help but think the Germans would have been thrilled with this kind of “collapse”

Good analysis
Thanks

I realize that the dollar to ruble(😎) is a measure, but I would imagine ruble to yuan or rupee would matter more

On October 13, RBK, citing experts , wrote that the Bank of Russia could raise the key rate to 21% in October. On that day, the Central Bank raised the key rate to 19% per annum. They stated that current inflationary pressure remains high. The next meeting of the board of directors, which will consider the issue of the key rate, is scheduled for October 25.

Earlier, the analyst allowed for an increase in the key rate to 22% in 2024.

https://www.gazeta.ru/business/news/2024/10/15/24159709.shtml

The probability of raising the key rate from 19% to 25% is approximately 15%. This opinion was expressed in a conversation with Gazeta.Ru by Mikhail Vasiliev , chief analyst of Sovcombank , commenting on the statement by VTB head Andrey Kostin about a possible increase in the key rate to 25%.

“I will ask how are the trends on those currencies”. (yuan and rupee)

Since secondary sanctions were imposed in June, and especially since August, the Russian ruble has declined against all major currencies.

It has declined a bit more relative to the yuan and rupee, than it has against the dollar - dropping roughly 15% against both the yuan and rupee in those last few months.
