Attack On Europe: Documenting Russian Equipment Losses During The 2022 Russian Invasion Of Ukraine (2 year anniversary)

This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When a vehicle is captured and then lost in service with its new owners, it is only added as a loss of the original operator to avoid double listings. When the origin of a piece of equipment can't be established, it's not included in the list. The Soviet flag is used when the equipment in question was produced prior to 1991. This list is constantly updated as additional footage becomes available.

"The US proxy war against Russia is over.
Ukraine and NATO have lost.
Zelenskyy is on the way out.
I told you from the beginning.
Remember all the propaganda victims on X who had Ukraine flags in their bio?
Never trust the legacy media when it comes to war.
https://t.co/9moj3Poc9L— Kim Dotcom (@KimDotcom) October 12, 2024"

Who is Kim Dotcom (@KimDotcom)?

"Kim Dotcom is Kim Schmitz, a German-Finish internet entrepreneur and political activist living in New Zealand.
He gained notoriety in the 1990s as a hacker and later as the founder of the file-hosting service Megaupload, which operated from 2005 until it was shut down by the U.S. Department of Justice in 2012.

"Dotcom has faced numerous legal challenges over the years, including charges of computer fraud, data espionage, and embezzlement in Germany, as well as criminal copyright infringement, money laundering, and racketeering in the United States.
Despite his legal battles, he has continued to be active in the tech industry, launching another cloud storage service called Mega in 2013, although he severed ties with it in 2015.

"In recent years, Dotcom has been fighting extradition to the United States.
In August 2024, New Zealand’s Justice Minister decided that Dotcom should be extradited to face trial in the U.S., marking the end of a 12-year legal battle.

"Kim Dotcom has been vocal about his views on the Russia-Ukraine war, often sharing his opinions on social media.
He has expressed support for Russia’s actions and has criticized Western countries, particularly the United States, for their involvement in the conflict.
Dotcom has echoed sentiments similar to those of Russian President Vladimir Putin, blaming the U.S. and its allies for what he describes as 'imperialist hegemonic policies' that have led to the war in Ukraine.

"Dotcom’s stance aligns with his broader criticism of Western governments and their policies.
He has used his platform to advocate for what he sees as a more balanced and fair global order, often highlighting the perceived injustices and double standards of Western powers."

I know, I know, guys, but really, this falls under the category of "know your enemy".
This Kim Dotcom is who JonPreston hopes to defeat America with.

"Russia now has about $40 billion in liquid reserves available..."

I don't know what those words mean or imply.
Estimates of Russian gold reserves are circa 2,500 tons, at today's values around $200 billion, with Russia's annual gold production circa $30 billion.
So, even if they sell $40 billion worth of gold per year to prop up the value of their ruble, that will still take a long time to burn through 2,500 tons of gold.

Of course, maybe those estimates are all wrong and Putin himself stole most of those reserves -- who knows? We can only speculate.

My only point is, I don't see words like "collapse" or "crash" as applying to Russia's economy... yet.
Hopefully, it's coming soon!

Liquid assets are cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities etc. that can be easily converted into cash. Russia cannot easily borrow money so its liquid reserves are smaller than they would be if Russia were not a pariah state.

Looks like Russia will launch a mass missile attack on Ukraine tonight and tomorrow morning which is the first day of Ukraine’s heating season. Might be the largest Russian missile attack of the war.

“The US will send an advanced anti-missile system — and US troops to operate it — to Israel “to help bolster Israel’s air defenses following Iran’s unprecedented attacks against Israel on April 13 and again on October 1,” the Pentagon said Sunday.

It is not the first time the US has deployed the system, the Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) battery, to the Middle East, Maj. Gen. Patrick Ryder, the Pentagon press secretary, said in the statement, and the system was also deployed to Israel in 2019 for an exercise. But the deployment of additional US troops to Israel is notable amid the heightened tensions between Israel and Iran, and as the region braces for a potential Israeli attack on Iran that could continue to escalate hostilities.

Approximately 100 US troops are deploying to Israel to operate the THAAD battery, according to a US defense official. It is rare for US troops to deploy inside Israel, but this is a typical number of troops to operate the anti-missile defense system.”

Who shot down our Su-34? Stop deceiving the military!

We received a lot of questions after the publication of this post about the death of our Su-34. Who shot him down, could it have been an enemy F-16? But they say that no one shot it down at all, and the reason for the plane’s crash was different. Where is the truth? We answer.

Firstly, the Su-34 was definitely shot down during a combat mission. The information was confirmed by more than 10 of our sources. It is enough for us to be confident in the veracity of the data.

Secondly, most likely it was the F-16 that shot down our plane. It is important to note that this information is still being verified. It is possible that the enemy used some of their air defense systems. Conclusions will not be made now; additional checks are needed.

Thirdly ( and this is the most important thing we want to say! ). Stop deceiving the military! Losses during combat missions are very bad. But everyone understands that they happen and will happen. But when they try to hide losses and come up with some incomprehensible reasons for them, it turns out very badly.

“I’m tired of listening to all this. It used to be that we lost 2 or 3 planes a day, but officially they said that these were Ukrainian losses. Now they are trying to hide the fact that we may be shot down. We are often simply not told about real threats.

“And when I don’t know about these threats, it’s easier to shoot me down. Do you understand that in such a situation one day I would rather refuse to fly than to become, in fact, a blind suicide bomber? Such thoughts come to me from time to time,” a pilot friend who takes an active part in the air defense told us.

We hope he will be heard.

(”Joe Blogs: RUSSIAN Ruble Crashing”)

“crashing” or “collapse” still seem like gross exaggerations”

I agree that he uses overstated titles (his business is driven by attracting clicks), but his data and analysis are more objective than his titles.

“Russians can sell a lot of gold to help maintain the ruble’s value without affecting their own reserves or global gold markets.”

It is true that gold could be sold to raise cash to support the ruble - as could any other of Russia’s financial reserves (like stocks or bonds they hold in accounts, like their National Wealth Fund).

But Russia’s total pool of financial reserves has been declining, as they have been selling them off to pay for increased deficit spending. The total of all Russian financial reserves (including stocks, bonds, foreign accounts, gold and other metals) has been declining, and financial markets have adjusted their risk premiums to the creditworthiness they assess.

Russia has run down the bulk of their foreign holdings that were not frozen, as well as their National Wealth Fund, except for the domestic Russian stocks they hold (which would crater their Stock Market, if they tried to sell them in a significant quantity relative to their spending needs - the bulk of the “illiquid” part).

Russia stopped officially reporting changes to their gold balances January of 2024, just as their other liquid financial accounts (like most of the National Wealth Fund) were running out, and they would be expected to have to rely on increased gold sales to continue their rate of spending. Since then, their spending has continued to increase, from somewhere.

There are some indications that Russia has been moving a lot of gold to pay their bills, such as that the gold imports in Hong Kong that came from Russia doubled in August over their July total. Gold shipments are well suited to smuggling and circumventing sanctions.

Russian bonds are hardly selling anymore, despite offering high double digit interest rates. In the second quarter of 2024, only a third of the bonds Russia offered were purchased - a very steep decline. Since Russia can not borrow enough to cover its spending, it must print more rubles to cover domestic spending, but they must have hard currency or gold to buy what they need from outside the country.

It seems likely they have been liquidating their gold reserves this year, and not reporting (or misreporting). Gold is the only major financial asset that we are asked to just trust them, about how much still sits inside their vaults.

Gold is their last remaining significant financial asset (on paper anyway) to bolster their creditworthiness, and thereby reduce the rate of interest they must pay to borrow. Effectively, Russian debt is already being priced as junk. Markets are speaking with their own money, about what professionals assess to be Russia’s financial condition.

The fact that over the last two months, the ruble has begun to break out of the band in which the Russian Central Bank has been holding it for a year through market interventions, is widely interpreted as demonstrating that they are running low on free cash to continue buying rubles.

“So, at some point, no doubt, Russia’s economy will reach its “crunch” time”.”

That is a Strategic effect, for which we have been monitoring for indications. One objective indicator of such a crunch, would be a collapse in the value of the ruble. Reportedly, the Russian Central Bank internally assessed that between 100 and 200 rubles to the dollar, there would be significant impacts to the Russian economy, with 200 inflicting “irreversible” damage (with some Bank members assessing 150 as the crisis level).

So the Ruble Death Watch is underway, watching for when Russia runs out of money to keep propping up the ruble. If/when it crashes, many economic train wrecks ensue. But even if it declines slowly, every incremental decline is a drag on the overall economy and Government finances.
