Attack On Europe: Documenting Russian Equipment Losses During The 2022 Russian Invasion Of Ukraine (2 year anniversary)

This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When a vehicle is captured and then lost in service with its new owners, it is only added as a loss of the original operator to avoid double listings. When the origin of a piece of equipment can't be established, it's not included in the list. The Soviet flag is used when the equipment in question was produced prior to 1991. This list is constantly updated as additional footage becomes available.

Jon in this country we can still buy revolvers, pistols, shotguns, and rifles and 30 round magazines. You filthy Putin stooges would not understand.

I was able to go to Washington and protest on January 6th without getting arrested. But if I had been protesting peacefully outside the Kremlin walls by holding up a placard that said “Free Navalny” I would have been arrested (Alexei was still alive at the time). And Putin is handing out longer prison sentences than Stalin did.

No surprise considering this is one of his favorite sources:

In fact, he’s a common source for many of the most pro-Putin posters here.

Since you are fact resistant and share Putin’s spiritual and moral values, perhaps you should move to Russia. http://publication.pravo.gov.ru/document/0001202408190001

As predicted, Ukraines misadventure into Kursk is costing them dearly.

Many analysts are describing the last 2 days as the worst losses by Ukraine in 2 years.

Several essentially irreplaceable western supplied air defence systems, worth billions, were destroyed by Russian missile forces, including IRIS T and several Patriot systems. Dozens of light and armoured vehicles destroyed, hundreds of dead, and many more wounded, 4 HIMARS launchers and support vehicles have been destroyed and scarce Ukrainain missile carrying attack aircraft destroyed along with the ground crews. Pilots and ordinance.

It's critically important to mention that these crucial losses and the expenditure of some of Ukraines' most valuable and capable reserves, all come in the context of relentless continued Russian advances in the East.

As Russian command decides how to counter Ukrainain light vehicle and sabotage groups on the ground in Kursk (the frontline has essentially stabilised and several Ukrainian attempts to occupy new settlements have been defeated), devastating strikes on Ukraines rear in Sumy region continue, as I've said, Russia can continue these strikes indefinitely and even afford to concede territory in the short term to establish fixed defence, what matters is the attrition of Ukraines increasingly scarce resources, this is the key point.

The other point worth mentioning is the impact of the Kursk offensive inside Russia itself, my personal experience has been a hardening of attitudes towards Kiev here in Russia, this is palpable.

I still believe that the Kursk misadventure could be an irreparable military miscalculation on a grand scale. There is simply no way Ukraine can match Russian scale in delivery of men and machines to the frontlines, and as I've said before and continue to reiterate, the Ukrainian wishful projection that the Kursk operation may impact Russian public attitudes to the conflict negatively, is in my Direct experience a massive miscalculation and PR based projection.

“Since you are fact resistant and share Putin’s… values”

…there is little to be gained by feeding such trolls the attention they feed on (and/or get paid for). He is simply peddling the Kremlin party line (surrender, resistance is futile, etc.),

Several PATRIOTs and four HIMARS destroyed overnight! 18 battleships sunk! Putin is ten feet tall! Math does not apply to Russian power - resistance is futile, Russian victory is inevitable. They just keep throwing those things out there, and don’t care that they are lies - just hoping that some percentage has some effect.

Russian Offensive Campaign Assessment, August 19, 2024

Chechen Akhmat Spetsnaz Commander Apty Alaudinov aggravated a situation that the Kremlin has historically treated with extreme caution by calling for conscripts to participate in combat operations in Kursk Oblast and dismissing concerns from relatives of conscripts. Alaudinov responded in a video message on August 19 to the “sobs and outbursts” about Russian conscripts fighting in Kursk Oblast, complaining that parents of conscripts are treating 18-year-olds as children.[10] Alaudinov claimed that Russian conscripts are employees of the Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) and must defend Russia. Alaudinov complained that conscripts are just “eat[ing] the state's bread for free ... and then go home.” Alaudinov responded to complaints that conscripts are paid little, calling on conscripts to sign a contract with the MoD if they want to receive higher salaries. Alaudinov called for all Russians young and old to “stand in formation” since “the enemy has come to [Russia], stating that “no one will die who is not destined to die, but if you die defending [Russia] and your faith in God, you will go to heaven.” A Telegram channel associated with the Akhmat “Aida” group also claimed on August 19 that the conscripts they have encountered in Sudzha, Kursk Oblast are not 18-year-olds, but 21-to-25-year-olds.[11] The “Aida”-affiliated channel suggested that the fact that Ukrainian forces are on Russian territory is more important than any discussions about casualties among Russian conscripts.

Family members of Russian conscripts have recently complained about the involvement of Russian conscripts in Russian border-defense operations.[12] The Kremlin has shown great concern about societal backlash regarding issues concerning conscripts, and Russian President Vladimir Putin has previously taken action to appease the complaints of conscripts’ relatives. The continued presence of Russian conscripts in the border areas during the Ukrainian incursion threatens the Kremlin with a potential political crisis regarding casualties among Russian conscripts. Alaudinov has postured himself as a spokesperson for the Russian defense in Kursk Oblast, and Russian newswire TASS has repeatedly amplified his statements following the Ukrainian incursion.[13] Blatant calls from Alaudinov — a widely promoted Russian authority — for conscripts’ relatives to stop complaining, for conscripts to participate in combat operations in Russia's border area, and for Russian citizens to embrace casualties among conscripts and other servicemembers may exacerbate tensions in Russian society and potentially threaten the stability of Putin's regime. Chechen Republic Head Ramzan Kadyrov has notably made only limited public statements about the Ukrainian incursion in Kursk Oblast, despite Alaudinov’s and Akhmat Spetsnaz’s pronounced roles in the Russian response.[14]

Russian blogger:

Putin was offered to “sacrifice” Dugin and send him to Ukraine

Several close associates of the president, dissatisfied with Alexander Dugin and his activities, made this proposal . The formal reason was the plans of the Kiev regime to ban the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

“The idea is simple. We can do nothing about the plans of the Kiev authorities regarding the Church. But we can switch attention to something else. To do this, we need to take some bright character. Dress him in rags, hang an icon on his chest, give him a cross. And send him on a religious procession to the Ukrainian border - to protest against this lawlessness. Dugin is one hundred percent suitable. He is an ideological person, so let him prove his loyalty to Russia, the true Church and Orthodoxy,” one of the authors of the idea told us.

According to him, the Ukrainians will either arrest Dugin or even kill him while trying to cross the border. “But that's good. It will be all over the world news. And against this backdrop, we will show the whole world what the Kiev regime is doing, persecuting the Church. I think that for this, Alexander Gelyevich should be sacrificed,” the source noted.

Another said that Putin laughed in response to this proposal. Most likely, Vladimir Vladimirovich took the idea as a good joke.

“The Black Colonel” by V. Alksnis

Very disturbing rumors have started to spread in Telegram channels. Allegedly, Ukraine sent Moscow a signal through intermediaries about its readiness to leave the Kursk region in the event of territorial concessions from the Russian Federation.

We are talking about Crimea, Donbass, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions. I spoke and wrote about this in the first days of Ukraine’s invasion of the Kursk region, that this invasion, if successful, will give Ukraine undoubted trump cards that will allow it to dictate its terms to the Kremlin. Especially if the defeat and displacement of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the Kursk region drags on. I really hope that these rumors will remain rumors. And the Kremlin will not go to such negotiations.

Although the prolongation of the counter-terrorist operation in the Kursk region is seriously worrying, since it gives more chances to the supporters of a treacherous deal through the exchange of territories.

As Russia empties its armories, Poland further accelerates its massive Military buildup.

Kyiv Independent reports:

“Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz signed a $10 billion agreement with U.S. company Boeing for 96 Apache attack helicopters for the country’s army, Polish media reported on Aug. 13 (along with a logistics and training package)…

Poland’s new Apaches will replace the Soviet-era Mi-24 helicopters in the Polish army aviation…

Commenting on the deal, U.S. Ambassador to Poland Mark Brzezinski noted that Poland “is becoming the largest operator of Apache helicopters outside the United States.”

+52 Artillery systems? (Russian losses in one day)

That seems significant. I wonder if something has changed in the counter battery fight, or if this is happening in Kursk?

Putin has caused historic Military mobilization - against Russia.

Kyiv Independent noted yesterday:

“Lithuania on Aug. 19 began construction of a military base that will house up to 4,000 combat-ready German troops, with completion expected by the end of 2027. This marks the first permanent foreign deployment for the German military since World War II…

…Lithuanian Chief of Defense Raimundas Vaiksnoras estimated that the country will invest over 1 billion euros ($1.10 billion) in the next three years to develop the military base, marking one of the largest construction projects in Lithuania’s history, according to Reuters…

…The base in Rudninkai, located near the capital Vilnius and just 20 km (12 miles) from Belarus, will accommodate up to 4,000 troops, with facilities for tank storage and maintenance, as well as shooting ranges of various sizes. Additionally, around 1,000 more German military personnel and civilian contractors will be stationed at other locations in Lithuania.

Lithuania has increased its defense spending to 3% of its gross domestic product this year.”

(New NATO forces will be forward basing along the Finnish and Romanian and Polish borders as well. Because of Putin.)

Kyiv Independent: “One of at least two pontoon bridges built by Russia over the Seim River in Kursk Oblast is no longer visible in satellite imagery, and smoke was detected in the area, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) reported on Aug. 19.

The news came shortly after Ukraine allegedly struck the third and final stationary bridge over the river in the Glushkovsky district, threatening to cut off Russian supply lines in the area amid Kyiv’s ongoing incursion.

Citing images recorded by NASA satellites, RFE/RL said that the pontoon bridge built by the Russian military between Zvannoe and Glushkovo – the two settlements that hosted two of the targeted fixed bridges – is no longer visible as of Aug. 19.”
