Attack On Europe: Documenting Russian Equipment Losses During The 2022 Russian Invasion Of Ukraine (2 year anniversary)

This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When a vehicle is captured and then lost in service with its new owners, it is only added as a loss of the original operator to avoid double listings. When the origin of a piece of equipment can't be established, it's not included in the list. The Soviet flag is used when the equipment in question was produced prior to 1991. This list is constantly updated as additional footage becomes available.

1. Summarized conclusions (brief content)

The study was prepared and implemented by the collaboration of the platforms Resurgam, Military Fortune Teller and Mortis Aeterna.

Our calculation showed that within 5-7 months, the central bases of the tank reserve were emptied by almost 400 units/tanks

The average rate of depletion of bases is up to 70 units/month. This rate makes it possible to cover current losses, but its stability throughout 2023 and early 2024 (and other factors, which are detailed in the text) indicates that the “ceiling of scaling” of production/modernization/recovery of tanks has been reached.

An analysis of the main armored factories showed a large overcrowding of sites, which indicates the overload of these factories, and not only that.

In the studied area, we covered up to 95% of the main places where “enemy tank reserves” could be stored. Our calculation showed that 3,150 tanks at the central bases of the tank reserve and 1,300-1,500 tanks at the waiting areas and near the workshops of the main armored repair plants remain suitable for deconservation/restoration.

This amount of the enemy should be enough to support the restoration of tanks without interruption until the beginning of 2026.

Against the background of other information, we singled out three main scenarios for the depletion of the enemy’s tank reserves: “optimistic”: 12-18 months; “moderate”: 18-24 months and “pessimistic”: more than 24 months.

Follows in depth analysis with base images.

With the ‘moderate’ scenario. 18-24 months.

“three main scenarios for the depletion of the enemy’s (Russia’s) tank reserves: “optimistic”: 12-18 months; “moderate”: 18-24 months and “pessimistic”: more than 24 months.”

Optimism aside, the amount of Military aid that Ukraine receives is a significant variable, in determining that outcome. I think that a 12-36 month window would cover a lot of the remaining old Soviet arsenal, in addition to just tanks, at current rates.

But it comes down to Will of the West, to pay the required bills

But it comes down to Will of the West, to pay the required bills..

Which will be cheap compared to the bill created by allowing Putin to take UKR.

Not this year. Gerasimov said when the SVO might end

If all current conditions remain the same, the SVO may last another 3-4 years. This opinion was expressed by Valery Gerasimov in communication with generals close to him.

The Chief of the General Staff does not share Sergei Shoigu’s optimism that the SVO could end this year [ https://t.me/kremlin_secrets/3860 ]. And he believes that Vladimir Putin’s “excessive trust” in the Minister of Defense led to the fact that Sergei Kuzhugetovich “was carried away by incomprehensible mysticism, makes the wrong decisions, and this can lead to serious losses.”

In addition, Gerasimov is disappointed with “how easily Shoigu can be enraged” ( referring to the conversation between the Minister of Defense and his French colleague Lecornu, after which Shoigu’s hands were shaking [ https://t.me/kremlin_secrets/3882] ).

“The SVO will definitely not end this year and will last 3-4 years. This is how the situation develops. I don’t understand why Sergei Kuzhugetovich is trying to deceive Vladimir Vladimirovich,” our source at the General Staff quoted Gerasimov as saying.

Putin plans a visit to the DPRK

Vladimir Putin may visit North Korea in the summer. Sources close to the President told us about this. The visit, according to our data, may take place no earlier than May 9, but most likely in June.

The reason is military-technical cooperation with the DPRK. It is important for Kim Jong-un to show that he is not isolated and has serious partners. Vladimir Vladimirovich is ready to help him with this, but in return he wants to receive even more North Korean missiles and shells.

Yuri Ushakov is preparing the visit, and Sergei Shoigu is also involved. He himself previously traveled to the DPRK, [ https://t.me/kremlin_secrets/2565 ] however, there is a feeling that Kim Jong-un is ready to give something more only into the hands of our president.

Kyiv Independent reports:

Finland decides to close border with Russia indefinitely

“The Finnish government has decided to keep the border with Russia closed “until further notice,” Finland’s Interior Ministry reported on April 4.

Finland closed its border with Russia in late November 2023 after Russia orchestrated an influx of migrants as a way to pressure Helsinki.

In November alone, around 900 asylum seekers from countries like Kenya, Morocco, Pakistan, Somalia, and Yemen entered Finland from Russia.

Finland decided in February to keep the border closed until April 14, but the latest decision means that the border crossing will remain shut until the risk of “instrumentalized migration” falls, the Interior Ministry said.

“The threat assessment is the same and also the assessment that if the border stations were to be opened, it would probably have led to the same situation as before, when they were opened,” Prime Minister Petteri Orpo said in parliament, according to Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat.

Finland’s government also decided to close several crossing points for maritime traffic to leisure boating due to concerns that Russia may encourage migrants to reach Finland by sea or over lakes.”

Brick by brick, the wall between the European and Russian economies is being built and fortified, like an Iron Curtain descending around Russia. Putin did that.

Pro tip for Russian subjects: Learn Chinese.

Kyiv Independent reports:

European Council adopts law on criminal offences, penalties for EU sanction violation

“The European Council has approved a law on the prosecution of violation or circumvention of EU sanctions, mainly concerning the sanctions against Russia, the body’s press service reported on April 12.

The corresponding directive, which defines the circumvention of sanctions and ensured that it would be treated as an offense punishable by a prison sentence of up to five years in all member states, was adopted by the European Parliament last month.

The Council listed helping to bypass a travel ban, trading in sanctioned goods, and performing prohibited financial activities among the actions that could be considered as criminal offences. Inciting, aiding, and abetting also can be penalized.

Those who violate EU restrictive measures can be fined further, the newly adopted law said. Legal entities such as private companies, could also be held liable if the offense was committed by a person with a leading position.

“In such cases, sanctions may include the disqualification of business activities and the withdrawal of permits and authorizations to pursue economic activities,” the statement read.

The directive will enter the force on the 20th day following publication in the EU’s Official Journal. The member states will have 12 months to implement the law into national legislation...

While the sanctions are imposed on the bloc-wide level, definitions of sanction violations and penalties vary across member states. This has led to a process known as “forum shopping,” a situation when violators seek out the member states with the weakest enforcement.

“The Russian invasion benefits from crooks breaking the law in Europe. They must be caught, and forum-shopping must stop,” European Parliament member (MEP) Sophie in ‘t Veld said.”

Russia staffing up for end of Mud Season assaults, and stripping their Far East and Syria of previously untouched resources. Expect to see Russian casualties skyrocket when the meat waves launch in earnest.

Kyiv post reports:

“Following heavy losses in its Ukraine invasion, Russia has begun to transfer personnel from the Russian Pacific Fleet and the 11th Air Force and Air Defense Army, Ukraine’s military intelligence service (НUR) stated in a Telegram post.

These Russian military formations have not yet been directly involved in hostilities against Ukraine.

“According to the decision of the Commander of the Russian Pacific Fleet Viktor Liina, rotations to Syria have been completely stopped, and all personnel are being sent to the combat zone on the territory of Ukraine,” Ukrainian intelligence said.

“We are talking about 2,000 Russian servicemen from the Primorsky and Kamchatka Territories of the Russian Federation.”

In addition, about 400 soldiers from the military units of the 11th Air Force and Air Defense Army from Russia’s eastern region of Khabarovsk have been sent to Ukraine to replenish the 155th and 40th Marine Brigades of Russia, which are short-staffed due to heavy losses, HUR stated.

“Part of the personnel from the military formations of the Russian Far East will join the new motorized rifle brigade of the aggressor state, which is being formed in Voronezh.””

(Putin) “wants to receive even more North Korean missiles and shells.”

If this goes on much longer, it is going to significantly shift the inter-Korean Military balance.

On the one hand, it is clearly reducing North Korean ammo stockpiles, but on the other, Russia is providing some new weapons in return in return for those shells (and perhaps soon, Artillery systems and barrels themselves).

ISW reports (12 April):

“The exhaustion of US-provided air defenses resulting from delays in the resumption of US military aid to Ukraine combined with improvements in Russian strike tactics have led to the increasing effectiveness of Russian missile and drone strikes against Ukraine without a dramatic increase in the size or frequency of such strikes.”...

...”Russian strikes are reportedly becoming more accurate as Russian forces are likely improving on tactical adaptations that they have been experimenting with for months.”

The authorities will strengthen control over migrants. What’s “wrong” with this story?

Against the background of the terrible terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall, the authorities decided to strengthen control over migrants.

First of all, we are talking about Moscow and St. Petersburg, but the security forces are just getting the hang of it. And their interest may not only be in “increasing safety on the streets.”

It is worth reading the recent news: foreign citizens, including labor migrants, or stateless persons will be able to purchase SIM cards from Russian telecom operators only if they register on the Gosuslug portal using biometrics and by personally visiting telecom stores.

Yes, this bill has not yet been adopted, but no one has any doubts that this will happen. Coordination with the FSB, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the RKN, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the FAS and the Ministry of Economic Development should be completed before April 15.

Sources in the Ministry of Internal Affairs told us that after the terrorist attack, instructions were received to punish as demonstratively as possible everyone who breaks the law. Obviously, we are talking about illegal migrants. The easiest way is to find those who are involved in working at various enterprises.

“Do you really think that the head of the district or the governor of the region does not know where he has what enterprises, and who works there? Everyone knows everything.

Initially, the system covers its eyes with banknotes so as not to notice violations. Migrants paid. And now they will simply raise the price. Do you want stay in Russia? Pay twice as much.

Those who don’t pay will be thrown overboard. They will be deported and that’s it. Others will come in their place. Fortunately, there are enough people willing,” said an interlocutor in the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who is in opposition to Minister Kolokoltsev.

According to our long-time friend in the FSB, all authorities “suddenly began to actively fight illegal migration.” “Before, of course, there was no such problem (laughs - Ed.). Look who lives in the Moscow region. Only migrants. I’m tired of this show off,” admits the interlocutor.

Our sources unanimously say that the screws will continue to be tightened on migrants. On this matter, they should even conduct a survey among Russians, the results of which will confirm the correctness of the new strategy.

However, apart from increasing the volume of bribes, this is unlikely to change the situation.
