Trump on Ukraine
Hot Air ^ | February 2, 2024 | David Strom

Well, this was a bit unexpected, given what Trump supporters have been implying about what Trump’s Ukraine policy would be.

Far from cutting off funds or ending the war (the latter of which Trump has indeed promised), Trump, at a rally, told the audience that the US has been bearing a disproportionate portion of the cost and he would pressure European governments to increase their own contributions to the same level as the United States.

Given that this is Trump, I wouldn’t call this an iron-clad-take-it-to-the-bank promise to keep pouring billions of dollars into Ukraine’s war coffers, but it does suggest that the view that both Trump supporters and his opponents have of him are grossly oversimplified.

The Left keeps talking as if Trump would have handed Ukraine over to Putin, even though Putin invaded Ukraine twice now–under Obama and then Biden. He left the country alone when Trump was president, and Trump was the only president who sent Ukraine arms until the 2nd war began.

Trump’s supporters tend to oppose funding Ukraine, but Trump here suggests that his problem with funding Ukraine is that only the US is doing so, with small token contributions from European states. As with NATO–an organization he criticized but kept funding–he talks very tough to the Europeans but shows no signs of abandoning American commitments.

Trump 2024: Better than Biden!

That’s an incredibly low bar, but It’ll be good enough for me, assuming they both make it that far.

—-> Then you will be happy to know that Europe has, in fact, borne a substantially higher burden than the US in supporting Ukraine. The US has given more in armaments, but Europe has given more cash.

The EU pledges to give.

How much has changed hands?

Its a very nice place to retire, in truth.

Large parts if it look like Middle Earth, out of the movie. No joke. In many places if you look out of train windows its the Shire, pretty green valleys all over the place.

If you are a “racially concerned” person, you will be very happy to hear it is nearly 100% “white”, outside of Bilbao. And for that city, that applies to only one neighborhood and the local football team.

You really will need to learn adequate Spanish and a little Basque. There arent many tourists so there is less English knowledge overall than some other parts of Spain.

To little to late. Welfare cash doesn’t solve their decimated manpower issue nor their shortage of weapons. The West simply doesn’t have the unlimited resources nor manufacturing base like the Federation of Russia…..not to mention the growing resentment of flushing $$$ Billions of taxpayers money down the filthy Ukrainian toilet.

Trump will end the War. That’s the bottom line.

As I have often pointed out, the best source of detailed statistics on all this is the Kiel Institute. They keep a diwnloadable spreadsheet with everything.

I think you have convinced yourself of many questionable points. I suggest you examine the roots of your feelings.

Trump will end the War. That’s the bottom line.

That’s not what Trump is saying now, and is the point of the article, read the first two lines. He’s switched over to what DeSantis was saying, make the EU pay for most of it. Reality set in on “I will end the war in 24 hours” talk. This thing is getting more likely to expand, than stop.

Well that's a surprise! Trump's plan would actually INCREASE support to Ukraine by forcing NATO members to step up and match the U.S. contributions.

LOL! Trumpers will flip their opinion as soon as they read this, just as they've done countless other times.

"WE'VE ALWAYS BEEN IN FAVOR FOR INCREASED SPENDING IN UKRAINE!"

4D Chess. LOL! What a bunch of chumps.

No need to. I suggest you ditch senile Joe’s corrupted narrative. Granted, senile Joe created more millionaires than any President, problem is they are all in Ukraine! Let that sink in.

Thanks for the info/advice. I am concerned about race.
It’s impossible to not be if one lives in the mid Atlantic I-95 corridor.

“Trump is just smart enough to know NATO will force a peace agreement, any peace agreement, before they spend more money on Uke.”

Couldn’t have said it better.

Look at all the Putlim daydrinkers gathered so early in the day! We've got a pair of beaten-down Ronlims; the DailyMail poster who complains about too many DailyMail posts; and the English-Was-Never-His-First-Language forehead-sloping Ivan who thinks Russia and China should rule the world.

Order another round of chemo for Putin! Put it on my tab.

Hopium is a helluva drug. Basically Trump is betting on the Eurotrash refusing to pay for their own defense like they always do.

What the Zeepers forget is that their little war for fun and profit is pushing the Russians to ally with China and that once China decides to provide weapons systems to Russia all of Europe is in danger.

Zeepers are shrieking, short-sighted fools.

How is this a new position or a surprise ? It’s essentially the same reply he gave to the questionnaire Tucker Carlson sent to all potential GOP candidates when he was still at Fox.
