If it comes to a shooting war, they will be rapidly and violently demoted.

While Army policy states that noncommissioned officers are supposed to lose their promotions if they do not attend relevant leadership training academies within a year of being promoted

That'll help retention even more...

OTOH I always despised Time in Service (TIS) and Time in Grade (TIG) as a factor for promotion. Lasting out the system doesn't make an NCO a leader. Quality of character and quality of performance does.

Air Force. We had something called WAPS. Weighted Airman’s Performance $hit. 5% of all buck Sargents got promoted to Staff Sargent no matter what specialty. WAPS supposedly evened out discriminatory butt kissing in certain fields. Nobody wanted to transfer into being a security policeman. Low morale, enforcing rules and as one said ‘chasing a dogs ass’. 50% of them got promoted one year.

Now a ‘buck’ sergeant is no more. Changed the title to ‘senior airman’. Us young buck Sargents didn’t set a good enough example-true. It’s shit like that. Made me choose to get out after one term.

Today? God help us.

It’s not “our” military any more (except that we pay for it). It is the military of our enemies in Washington. It was even so while Trump was president.

Probably worthless DEI and intimidation classes anyway.

DIE training would not seem to be helpful.

Wait a minute now, hold up!

I am an advocate for the troops when it comes to fairness, as I was in for 22 years and retired a Senior Master Sergeant. Good senior NCOs look out for the younger troops and NCOs.

There was a problem here. They shut down all the leadership academies due to Covid so these people couldn’t go. I won’t argue the Covid restrictions weren’t stupid, they were. But what is a soldier supposed to do? Another stripe gives them more pay and responsibility, but through no fault of their own they can’t go the leadership academies and therefore can’t get promoted??? I’ll bet they still get saddled with the extra responsibility, because it’s always there despite who’s in charge.

That’s adding insult to injury.

So the Army is going to wave the academy requirement for a couple of grades temporarily and everyone is angry about it?

I think this is a good thing until they can alleviate the backlog and get the academies flowing again. It’s not the fault of the enlisted men that the system screwed up so badly.

You have to understand that NCOs, the trained and good ones, are leaving the Army and other services in droves. From personal interaction with many over the last few years, there is a desire to retire as soon as possible. That leaves upper level vacancies which are being filled with people 3-8 years ahead of normal without the experience or training. Think about it ... your commander is a bearded guy wearing a dress who has a husband.

Logical. If your Affirmative Action NCO selectees are likely to struggle with the curriculum at a mandatory training school.....sidestep the requirement and promote them anyway.

Makes perfect sense in the light of everything else this traitorous regime has done.

Show us the demographics.

I suspect unqualified blacks and trannies made up all of them.

The training that was canceled didn’t mean anything anyway. I have never seen a senior enlisted person enter the training and come out different in any way.
