Gillian Anderson, who is best known for her role in Sex Education and The X-Files, graced the red carpet in a gown embroidered with vaginas to protest ‘restrictions to female rights.’

“My dress is designed by Gabriela Hearst and it has vaginas on it,” Gillian Anderson said to a reporter on the red carpet.

“So, female anatomy? Ok, why did you choose this?” the reporter asked.

“For so many reasons. For so many reasons,” she said.

Only a couple of years ago, Anderson gave an excellent -- and much acclaimed -- portrayal of Maggie Thatcher in The Crown.

I watched that episode, and was disgusted by the politically motivated, slanted portrayal.

What you've described is the Jim Carrey style of "acting." More correctly referred to as "doing an impression." But Thatcher's strength, intelligence, wit, and personal warmth were entirely missing - because NetFlix (or HBO or whoever) wanted the audience to despise and/or look down upon Thatcher.
