I'm not a winter person. I loved it when I was a kid. Then I got some smarts.
I'm 80...and the best thing right now is that I can have my groceries delivered.

Thank Hillary for that one, I remember her using it over the Russian collusion thing.

Here in York, PA, our *weather* is in 30s, 40s, & occasional low-50s thru mid-Feb... sounds normal, based upon previous years.

A couple of days ago, the phone said low of 28 next Saturday. It’s been raised a few degrees, since. Coastal Oregon....may see frost on the roof.

It should have been “gobsmackingly bangers.” Or “gobsmackingly Haggis” if he wanted to add a Scot touch.
Doesn’t that author know anything about Brit cuisine?

LOL…so if we get an extreme cold climate emergency does that mean every climate refugee will immediately put it in reverse and go home?

Prep for winter should have been done before Thanksgiving.
People who wait this long deserve what they get.

<< extending into the Central and Midwest USA over the next 5-10 days >>
I just looked at the 10-day forecast here in Western Michigan, and the coldest day will be 26 degrees, which is about average for January. The article is some of the most blatant fear-mongering propaganda I’ve ever seen.

Here in North Idaho, we’ve got five days of subzero coming up with predicted low of -14 and a high of 6. We’ve been watching this forecast the last ten days and it has varied all over the map with most of those forecasts showing two days around -10 to -15.
It always cracks me up that “science” people and their models that swing that much in a short ten days want us to believe they can predict a one degree average temperature change ONE HUNDRED YEARS from now.
It’s cold and may set some records, but nothing extraordinary. I remember walking to class on such mornings in Missouri 1969-1973.

30 below 0 in January / February is not unheard of in MN. The norm is somewhere around 7-22 degrees, so if we get to -60 or something, I’ll be really surprised. Might get there with the winmdchill, which has happened several times, but not air temp.

AccuWeather 30 day forecast for eastern WA shows only ordinary winter conditions, nothing extreme at all. Lowest low forecast for here is +11°F, otherwise in the 20s.
