The term “greedflation” describes scenarios where companies use the cover of inflation to hike prices disproportionately, boosting profits at the expense of consumers. This practice has been especially prevalent during the post-pandemic recovery phase, when inflation provided a convenient pretext for such actions.
Greedflation, a term that emerged prominently during the high inflationary period of 2021 and 2022, encapsulates how some companies exploited the situation to significantly raise prices, often well beyond their increased costs. This practice wasn’t merely a reflection of market dynamics but a strategic maneuver to maximize profits under the guise of inflation.
The impact of greedflation extends beyond just numbers on a balance sheet. It directly affects families, particularly those in lower and middle-income brackets. When prices for basic necessities like food and household goods are inflated artificially, families face heightened financial strain.

Somebody doesn’t understand basic market economics.
Is this article from The Onion? What a load of BS! While the rate of inflation has (allegedly) declined, that doesn’t mean that price levels have declined from those existing at the time when Slow began his occupation of the White House.
I’ll blow the whistle... I don’t care what the “private business cult” says. They just don’t want to admit to being greedy opportunists. I have been in business all my life and opportunistic collaborated price fixing and price gouging is absolutely real.
Especially now days when there are large corporate monopolies controlling certain links in the supply chain. I have seen it all my life. and even as a businessman I cannot defend the practices as “normal” or come up with other “excuses” to hide the pure greed.
Yes the economy is bad, costs to produce and deliver are up 50%, but that does not equal a 150% increase at retail, the extra 100% is tacked on as pure opportunistic greed through the supply chain.
The stupid people who would put you in jail for counterfeiting because they only think taxes or their cut isn’t being paid don’t seem to understand the actual, economic reasons why there are laws against it.
This could have been written by one of my Economics professors in college. They were all socialists that thought they knew exactly how to “fix” everything. They were all pompous asses and out of touch with anything that resembled reality.
Had I not needed it for a recipe, I would not have bought it.
BTW, chicken was still reasonably priced.
Bidenomics.

I’ll just leave this here...one of many articles from 2021 telling us this was coming.
Is there greed built in? Probably. But there are generally higher costs to do anything. You simply cannot absorb 100% labor increases and not see a result like this.
That is almost a 100% price increase. There is absolutely no way the supply chain cost went up that much in that short of time. The costs of production and delivery did not go up 100% in that short of time so the math just doesn’t add up at all. These prices are not all Biden...
“BTW, chicken was still reasonably priced.”
You point out something important here by adding that point. The price of the ham went up almost 100% but the price of chicken did not? Even though the costs of labor, production, and delivery should have affected them both equally?
Far too obvious one is price gouging... the other is not.
Shop the sales as best you can...generally speaking; everyone is corrupt, everyone is a grifter, everyone is a liar. Good luck out there.
The pigs are taking over and calling the chickens bird-brains for selling out too cheaply.
Somebody else doesn't understand the effects of bad monetary policy.
Somebody was hired to write BS.
The cost to everyone in the supply chain has increased and is being paid for with inflated/devalued money. It’s not as much of a pure price increase as it is a combination of factors. Let’s just call it Bidenomics.
Inflation is not one dimensional.

Thank-you for your evaluation. Today’s globalists consist of immensely wealthy people who over time have bought control of all resources (gas, coal, electric, water, land, food, etc), technology, and most corporations. The order to destroy millions of chickens and turkeys came from higher up.
Thank you for allowing me to use your comment as an example. It is not intended to be argumentative directly with you. It is a great example of the topic of the OP. :)
But this is a pet peeve of mine even though I have been in business myself since Carter was in office. The opportunism is hitting me especially hard this time around because now I have grown kids with their own families and they are about to lose their homes because of the Biden economy and the reality of this exact greedy price gouging.
I’m going to call out and expose every single reason why. This is not all Biden, supply is taking advantage of the situation and being greedy on top of the Biden economic issues. It is the straw that is breaking the camel’s back and that little difference is what will break my kids.
The opportunistic greed is just as wrong as Biden’s failed economy. It is rubbing salt in the wound and in no way should they be allowed a free pass and immunity.
“Somebody doesn’t understand basic market economics.”
I think this Dallas Ludlum dude made a right turn on his way to work, when he should have made a left turn, and ended up spending the day at a conservative site instead of a Leftist site.
Either that or these clowns, who think they’re on our side, are CLUELESS and the country is worse off than I ever thought.
