As I write this, the debate between Gavin Newsom and Ron DeSantis is entering the final stretch, but short of a miracle turnaround, a winner has already emerged. DeSantis has hammered Newsom with facts throughout the night, and to Sean Hannity's credit, he's put up graphics with each question that have helped expose the California governor's continued lies.
Once things end, there will be a lot to cover (and a heck of a lot to fact-check on Newsom's part), but one moment was just too good to not go ahead and share. In it, DeSantis began to recollect a conversation he had with a man who had recently fled Florida from California, noting that his new state was safer, had lower taxes, and was better governed.
Wait until you see who that man was.
I was talking to a fella who had made the move from California to Florida. He was telling me that Florida’s much better governed, safer, better budget, lower taxes.

Holy crap. They could have just cut to black at that point and played a Hannity re-run because DeSantis effectively ended Newsom. It's one thing to nail someone with facts and figures, and that was certainly done. But it's a whole different level to have Newsom's father-in-law used as a source for how much better Florida is than California. I'm pretty sure Christmas dinner is going to be awkward this year.
That's not to say Newsom didn't desperately try to showcase his patented slickness in the debate. Throughout the night, he did his best to use his slimy demeanor to effortlessly spew falsehoods. DeSantis was ready to nail him in nearly every instance, though. The idea that the Florida governor isn't a good debater has been completely dispelled. Perhaps Newsom was too overconfident, believing he could just walk in and dominate, or perhaps being prepped by Nikki Fried (yes, that happened) wasn't the best decision.
Whatever the reason for the lackluster performance, Newsom was on his back foot most of the evening. I suppose not having any facts on his side played a role in that. A politician can only lie so much. At some point, they need something tangible, and what's tangible in California is Newsom's awful governance. He can't hide from it.
Also noticed another weird tic/tell of Newsome, besides the smirk/smile is he would spew out a lie or just talk over both Hannity and Desantis and then he would bob his head side to side with seemingly virtuous indignation.
Trump won this debate.
Now the deep state will do their best to get their candidate as VP, like they dod with Reagan, so they can bump off the president and be in power.
Trump was surrounded with CIA in his last presidency, Bill Barr, Mike Pompeo, ....

Newsom comes across as the “Eddie Hascall” of this one. “Yes, Mrs. Cleaver…no Mrs. Cleaver…my, you look nice Mrs. Cleaver…”
Meatball needs to bind his wounds and prepare for a potential POTUS run in 2027-2028 (replete between now and then with regular, enthusiastic and unilateral hatchet-burying vis-a-vis Fo Fi).
I watched a California news station story on this “debate.” The main point the media wanted to say is that viewers watched this as entertainment, rather than a consequential contest between two politicans. The story included a viewer who said that she wanted to learn what arguments Republicans other than Trump would campaign on. However the news story didn’t cover the part about Gavin’s father-in-law.
I watched because I’ve never seen Newscum “in action”. I was not surprised by how smarmy he is. I wish the camera would have panned out to show the slime trail he leaves when he slithers around. What a despicable creep!
Give Newsom points for a slick performance. It was like a good actor with a poor script. He thought he could dominate with bluster and a bunch of cooked up “Facts”. Ron didn’t do well, at times he gave a Dan Quale “Deer in the Headlights” look—BUT he had the facts on his side. Newsom was overconfident and sort of lost it in the last 15 minutes. Newsom was a “Loyal” Democrat and praised the un-praiseable Joe Biden. There was a few moments when Newsom almost let his inner self come out on the Border and Hamas-Israel war. He brought up Trump three times like it was a magic word to crush DeSantis—it didn’t.
It was a solid moment for DeSantis who by most accounts destroyed Newsom in the debate
In social media and in this thread the Trump loyalists are all denying the obvious about the debate performance of DeSantis, this has been a tough week for the Trump Loyalists, last night DeSantis dominated in a debate against a star Democrat and earlier this week they had to defend Trump praising BLM after one of the leaders endorsed Trump

Except that “Donnie” DID debate, more than once, in 2016, and kicked ass every single time. And this was against 15 or 16 well-seasoned and established pols.

Look at old videos of Joe Biden when he was much YOUNGER, and Gavin Newsome and Joe are like TWINS....SLIMY LIARS with CHEESY TOOTHY PHONY GRINS!!
