Caddo Parish, Louisiana – It turns out that voting can make a difference even when you are dead. This is especially the case if there is no paper trail ensuring election results are accurate.
Democrat Henry Whitehorn and Republican John Nickelson faced off in a November 18 election to determine who would become the next Caddo Parish sheriff. The final results showed the candidates separated by just a single vote out of more than 43,000 cast and Whitehorn was declared the winner.
Nicholson rightfully requested a recount to respect the “will of the people.”
This extraordinarily narrow margin absolutely requires a hand recount to protect the integrity of our democratic process, and to ensure we respect the will of the people.
Nicholson noted there were multiple irregularities that accounted for the final result, including dead voters being counted and people who voted twice:
We know that at least two voters voted twice, and that the votes of at least five people who were deceased as of Election Day were counted
But as the Associated Press notes, Louisiana law only permits absentee ballots to be tallied again and checked for errors. Absentee ballots are the only auditable paper trail under Louisiana’s current voting system and represented only 17% of the total vote in the runoff race.

CADDO PARISH, La. (KSLA) — Caddo sheriff candidate John Nickelson filed a lawsuit Monday (Nov. 27) asking Caddo District Court to declare a victor or order a new runoff election against Henry Whitehorn, who won the runoff Nov. 18 by one vote.
The petition is set to be heard at 9:30 a.m. Thursday (Nov. 30) by Caddo District Judge Ramon Lafitte. A ruling could come as soon as that day or the next.
If the district court’s ruling is appealed, the case will be heard by the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeal. If the appellate court’s opinion is appealed, the case would advance to the Louisiana Supreme Court but no further.

How anyone could trust our elections... it’s beyond comprised and people should be rotting in jail for it.
Even a single fraudulent vote should invalidate this election.
If there’s no paper trail, then when a recount is triggered, don’t recount those votes that have no paper trail. Those votes just get deleted.
Pretty soon I think counties would figure out a way to produce a proper paper trail.
My county in Indiana doesn’t have a paper trail either. I’ve complained about it every election since we moved here. If the machine doesn’t show a paper trail, how am I supposed to verify that the machine did it right? Trust them? It would be too easy to tamper with the machines here.
If the FBI wasn’t a bunch of sell out corrupt jerks working to maintain power for white liberal ‘elties’ in the democrat party, they could seed all the voter rolls with fake names, then when one of those nonexistent ‘names’ voteed, they could swoop in and arrest people.\
That would end a lot of voter fraud. It’s that easy.
When I was young and a democrat one of the fraudsters who was doing the ‘ice pick/knock out the chads/down ballot ‘voting’ got the wrong spot, and the ‘black community’ elected a white republican by accident. Lots of folks were scared for a while but no one noticed it was the black community that ‘elected’ the guy. And the issue went into the dustbin of history. I wish I had paid more attention at the time - but it was a down ballot race that didn’t make much difference anyhow so I don’t have the name.
We need to go back to paper ballots. Other countries use them and still manage to know the election outcome that night.
Athens Tennessee August 1946.
“Athens Tennessee August 1946.”
Those were veterans. We are a nation of pussies and foreigners now.
“ It is up to us, the citizen, to demand fair cheat proof elections.”
We aren’t going to get that until there are consequences, serious consequences, for the alternative.
Just like Argentina and France.
Sadly, too many lazy Republican voters sat on their hands and declined to vote on November 18, 2023.
Crime is bad in Shreveport, but the outlying parts of the parish are realatively safe.
Deceased voters count if the ballot is mailed before the election.
At some point, when people are robbing you, you have to decide whether you are going to fight back. If you don’t they will get bolder, and bolder, and bolder.
Voodoo brought them back to vote.
The number of votes cast for each candidate is irrelevant in the 2020’s. It’s the number of votes “counted” for each candidate that is important.
There’s a very good reason why Deep States everywhere love their electronic voting machines.
Exactly
We are a nation of pussies and foreigners now.

I’d add ILLEGALS to the list. They come in by various methods
and basically stay. If you look at this country call the USA I guess
you could say in 1492 Columbus started the invasion.
