A 17-year-old Las Vegas teen is facing murder charges after he fatally struck a 64-year-old bicyclist. On August 14th, two teens allegedly stole a Hyundai, took the vehicle on a hit-and-run crime spree, and recorded it with a phone.
On August 29th, Las Vegas Police Detectives found the phone recording on social media and determined it was intentional

It’s not stupid, it’s the truth and you obviously can’t handle the truth. But if you want to ride your bicycle alongside fast moving traffic out on the highway, be my guest. I have no problem with that.☺
Bicycles are considered vehicles, and must therefore obey the rules of the road. All the bike lanes I've ever seen have directional arrows that go the same direction as motorized traffic.
I used to commute on a bike, but gave it up last year as things are just getting too dicey on the roads. I never went out on a highway, it was all in-town on residential streets and main arteries (those are the scary ones). I started noticing most people going down the road at 40 mph were looking down at something. I wonder what that might be?
“hate crime”
When whites kill blacks it is a hate crime.
When blacks kill whites it is a love crime.
:-(
Facing traffic while cycling is both illegal and dangerous. For one thing, at intersections, drivers do not expect traffic coming from the right. Even if he had been facing them, there is little or nothing he could have done to evade the attack.
Throw the bodies into an empty farmfield. Maggots and buzzards gotta eat, too.
SPJNK.
Retired police chief killed in bike crash remembered for laugh, love of coffee
Nothing about the kid ("juvenile"), his race, the video, etc.
Gotta be the laughingstock of the world this morning, that vid was all over the net by 8 AM Pacific.
Oh those teen rascals and their mischief. Too bad we didn’t see what the looked like. We only saw how old they were.
That is not the way I learned it in grade school back in the 1960s. Pedestrians face the traffic - bicyclists go with the traffic.
“nothing he could have done” was what happened. Facing the oncoming car gives opportunity to swerve or dive out of the way. Too bad we can’t now ask the man how he feels about the issue.
I used to do plenty of bike riding. Riding with my back to oncoming traffic is a suicidal activity.
Dedicated bike lanes are a different matter, as a motorist must drift into or turn across extra territory to run down a biker. Riding without a bike lane a foot or two from the edge of the travelway, a motorist can be maintaining his lane and still run me over.
Thanks for self-identifying
It is illegal to ride facing traffic if you are riding on the roadway or the shoulder.
Wake me when a 17 year old black kid doesn’t walk scott free for murder.

Why should these particular youts suffer any consequences.
The law and empirical evidence are on my side. People are more tolerant of risks they feel they can control, and undertake risky behavior needlessly, like driving facing traffic.
No problem bigboob.
Have it your way, pal. I’d rather face a possible citation and reduce my chance of an ICU visit or a stay in the morgue as happened to the man in the video.
You seem to choose the opposite and that’s fine.
Done.
You bet. If this bicyclist had been doing that, he very possibly could have seen them coming and avoided being killed. He never saw them coming because he back was to the traffic.
Being a pedestrian or bicyclist alongside fast moving traffic can cause instant death. Even on residential streets I'll walk on the side facing traffic. It's so dangerous being alongside fast moving traffic, it's why agencies like CHP during traffic stops will deal with the driver from the PASSENGER side of the vehicle.
Are ya ready???
premeditated...
“For one thing, at intersections, drivers do not expect traffic coming from the right.”
So very true and now the problem is worse with eBikes. I was making a right turn on a divided highway where the direction of traffic was in one direction only. I looked right to check for pedestrians and then looked left for traffic. There was no traffic so I started to make a right turn and two effing idiots on ebikes, going around 30 to 35 mph pass right in front of my car as I was turning on to the highway. A very close call and this illustrates the profound reckless stupidity of some, especially ebike riders.
