In Ohio we have had a very wet summer, puffballs come out every year but this year they are 4 times the size.
Yup- camping we would often drop the steaks right on the coals if there wasnt a grill or grating of some kind to put over the campfire, and just brush it off a bit afterwards. Charcoal is good for us anyways.
I like it seared very hot on both sides and then broiled in oven best though. We use coarse Himalayan salt and fresh ground pepper and a pad of butter when broiling. Don’t like a lot of spices and such- most have garlic in them and I have an allergy to garlic unfortunately which is a bummer as I used to really love garlic, especially garlic bread.
Been getting lamb lately onsale- growing up we ate a lot because it was so cheap- now it is more of a delicacy item almost and pretty expensive- but we wait for sales on the lamb chops or on a shoulder. The chops are kinda small, but provide enough if everyone has about 3-4. I’m guessing that morels or mushrooms would go well with the lamb too.
All this talk about meat cuts is making me hungry 😆
Making me hungry, too!
I get the food allergy thing. I can’t eat watermelon, cantaloupe, or honeydew anymore. 🙁 It makes me very sad, especially in the summer when they are in season!
Ah bummer... gotta have my watermelon in summer. I can’t do tomatoes either, but have to have 2-3 a year and just suffer the co sequences (stomach ulcer acts up)- they are just too good to not have.
Mine is an itching allergy, inside my sinuses, nose, ears, mouth, throat. I had to be knocked out to deal with it the last time. Takes about a whole day to get rid of it completely. You can’t scratch your sinuses. If it was just something like a mild itch, I could probably take an antihistamine to lessen it. If only that would work.
My little sister has a lactose intolerance, but all she has to do is take a Lactaid pill before she eats cheese or have other dairy. I wish it were that easy for me. I used to really enjoy melons every year. I think I’m on about 25 years without them, so I’ve learned to manage it. Still, I miss them a lot.
Ugh- that doesn’t sound fun- have you tried taking a benadryl ? Kinda sounds like maybe a histamine reaction? Not sure I’d risk testing it though since you have the bad reaction-
Yes, I have to take Benadryl and try to go to sleep. Being awake with it is pure hell. No, pretty much, never again.
