A U.S. Navy veteran says he was brutally beaten and robbed Saturday night while walking his dog in a Philadelphia neighborhood.
Scott Harris, 62, was left with a brain injury and required at least 100 stitches after he was beaten by a crowd of people around 11:50 p.m. in the city’s Brewerytown neighborhood, according to NBC10. “That night on Saturday, there was a huge party going on over here,” he told the outlet. “A little bit out of control but nothing terribly concerning to me. Next thing you know, I’m in the emergency room getting stitches.”
At least one individual knocked Harris unconscious and stole his wallet, the outlet reported, citing police. There was no money inside, just his mother’s driver’s license, which he’s held onto since her death. “Sadly, only thing I really cared about in that wallet was my mother’s driver’s license,” Harris continued. “She passed about 10 years ago. That’s kind of how I kept her close and now I don’t even have that.”
After serving in Iraq and Ukraine for years, Harris said he was stunned that the most brutal experience of his life would happen right here at home.
Three women helped Harris back to his home, where his partner, Joseph Hurchick, called 911, FOX29 reported. “They brought him back, otherwise I don’t know what would have happened,” Hurchick told the outlet. “We were on the stoop and he was just bleeding, I was on the phone with 911, I didn’t know where the blood was coming from, I didn’t know if he was stabbed.”
Hurchick told FOX29 that although he and Harris have complained to the police multiple times about parties and large crowds in the neighborhood, nothing has been done. “It’s going to take a murder for this to stop,” Hurchick said.
Or, as Jesse Jackson once said, “There is nothing more painful to me at this stage in my life than to walk down the street and hear footsteps... then turn around and see somebody white and feel relieved.”

“Many families live in Brewerytown and residents tend to be liberal”.
Yep.
And if you walk around Philly at night, pack no matter what, 2 magazines minimum.
Is there video of it? Given he has a male “partner” I’d investigate if he’s covering domestic abuse.
Such things will see a rebirth of a new KKK, no longer with stupid robes and crosses but a secret klan of hidden handshakes and new terms—in some ways it could be more evil.
Obviously guilty of walking at night while white.
The latinos that drive through my neighborhood throw out beer cans and trash (with really loud spanish music blaring) and I have to pick up their trash in my yard every day. Many of the latinos live with many families per house. The head of the house usually drives a big truck and the rest park all over the yard and street in rusty junk cars.
I have a driveway that goes all the way from the street to the lake that I live on. I have a gate on the driveway, but I have had it open and had a few different latinos have tried to launch a boat from my driveway in the last two years. They have all tried to act like they don’t understand when I tell them they cannot launch their boat from my yard. When I let my dog out they all suddenly understand. I could escalate beyond that, but it has never come to that. The local police are useless. Sheriff Grady does not really cover local jurisdictions.
I have no sympathy for anyone that doesn’t carry a gun. EVERYONE know its a necessity in our rat run cities..........Carry EVERYWHERE. Its your right. No matter what the local law says, and the politicians with their armed guards.
Poor situational awareness on his part.
Ours are fairly well behaved, but do play loud music on weekends.
Not a lot of litter, even less than when we had the other people in the neighborhood.
And helpful as well.
When we were re-roofing our shed, the next door guys gave us a bunch of building materials they had leftover from jobs.
Here’s how the next door guys are:
One guy, Honduran I think, bought the early 1960’s house in run down condition from previous owners, it was a rental property then. Really bad tenants.
He totally remodeled it, inside and out and put on a new metal roof.
The guys that did the actual work lived in it while doing the work AFTER their day work, at other places.
Now, just one young guy and his wife and baby live there. The owner speaks good English, but the young guy only speaks a little and I don’t think his wife speaks any at all.
This same scenario takes place in several houses all around the neighborhood....................
having said that, all of this is deliberate....they want chaos...they want citizen killing citizens....
get out now...get away, as best you can...or stay away....
btw, this kind of picture and weak response are TROPHIES for the animals...they are laughing up a storm.....
“his husband”?...well that is a another piece of the puzzle....
If people are well behaved and trying to make a better life then I really don’t have a problem with them.
30th and Jefferson, north end of Brewrytown, south end of Strawberry Mansion.
I think you can get closer to the root cause, low-IQ and terrible impulse control.
Lots of stories like this in NYC in the 70s. People stayed put, voted for Giuliani, and city got better — for a while. People were moving back to the big cities before COVID, and it looked like they were turning around. Some people want to think the best of their hometowns and still have hopes of things improving.
