So, What the Heck Happened to All Those Illegal Immigrants Who Were Sent to Martha’s Vineyard?
Redstate, Bob Hoge

Remember when Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis sent a bunch of illegal immigrants from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard? Do you recall how the left had a collective meltdown at the idea that the Massachusetts island was about to become just a little bit browner? Well, it’s been about nine months since this occurred, and the New York Times has given us an update on where these folks are now.

I’m sure you don’t already need me to tell you what happened with these immigrants, but I’m going to do it anyway, just for fun:

It has been nine months since the government of Florida, under the direction of Gov. Ron DeSantis, chartered two flights from Texas that picked up Ms. Cauro and 48 other newly arrived migrants and dropped them off on Martha’s Vineyard, a liberal enclave that until then had little firsthand experience with the surge in migration on the U.S.-Mexico border.

Within days, most of the migrants were gone, headed for other parts of Massachusetts and places like New York, Washington and Michigan — places better equipped than a small island to settle people who had arrived with little or nothing of their own.

So the overwhelming majority of the immigrants who were transported to the island are now gone despite the area being inhabited by the type of people who get their kicks virtue signaling on social media about how much they care for the poor, downtrodden folks who are trying to find a better life in America. Unfortunately, many of the asylum seekers who were transported to the island are not faring so well:

Many of the 49 migrants who were flown to Martha’s Vineyard are still struggling. Some have not yet obtained work permits, and many are still living in shelters, unable to afford permanent housing.

One of them, a 42-year-old man named Wilson, who had fled Venezuela after deserting an armed group there, is living in a shelter in a Boston suburb. He was hoping to open a restaurant or a remodeling business, but for now is working odd jobs and “doing whatever I can,” he said.

“We were 49 migrants, and we have 49 different stories,” he said. “I want to reach the American dream like everyone else.”

We saw this coming from a mile away, didn’t we? I doubt anyone believed that most of the illegal immigrants who wound up on Martha’s Vineyard were going to remain there. The residents and local government are more than okay with the ongoing immigrant crisis as long as they don’t have to deal with the fallout like New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who is still struggling to figure out how to handle the influx into his city.

For now, the citizens of Martha’s Vineyard are safe from having to deal with folks from South America showing up in their neighborhoods. They can continue pretending to care about these individuals on social media and during their fancy dinners while the rest of the nation bears the brunt of the onslaught. Unless, of course, Govs. Greg Abbott or Ron DeSantis decides to send more their way.

"places better equipped than a small island to settle people who had arrived with little or nothing of their own."

With all the rich people living there, including King Barry and Big Mike, you would think they would find it in their hearts to help out these poor people. But no, all they can think of is how to get rid of them as quickly as possible.

“I want to reach the American dream like everyone else.”

There are legal ways to do that. You don’t just waltz in and unannounced and uninvited.

You escaped and wandered through at least 5 countries to get here...you could have stopped in any one of them along the way.

Get out.
