Funny how they look so completely comfortable with each other in that picture.
It’s mystifying how SCOTUS mustered up the intrepidity to strike down Affirmative Action on higher education admissions today—and to overturn Roe v Wade a year ago—but didn’t have the courage to uphold the Constitutional state legislative auspices yesterday.
Legal analysts such as Mike Davis explained how Justices Roberts, Coney-Barrett and Kavanaugh were intimidated by protests at their homes and being ostracized by the Chevy Chase elitists. There must be something else at work behind that ostensibly easy decision to be so clearly botched.
Would welcome all insights from my fellow Freepers.
I heard of but didn’t read that decision. It would seem if they were intimidated by race politics they would have also capitulated here. Perhaps they see it as ‘give and take.’
That was 17 years ago.
I’ve had friends in business I was very close to until they became sharks.
What your point here? You suffer from TDS?

They’ve known each other for half a century.
Juxtaposed with how uncomfortable/ un-natural DeSanctimonious is meeting with groups of conservatives.
Big difference!
Not at all... actually I was looking for a funny picture I had seen of him and Jessie Jackson and this one came up in the google search also. My point is Trump has always had ties in the African American community.
I am sitting here musing about the extensions of this ruling.
If it is once again unconstitutional to consider race at all in admissions how about:
Employment?
Military? How about them apples mr brown of jcs?
School programs?
Of course now there are so many affirmative action post turtles in positions of power the will go down swinging if they go down at all.
The USSC just opened a big can of worms?
I think im happy about it.
I agree, it will be a precedent going forward.
Well, you know, Republicans are racist and want to bring back slavery. So, now they get something to riot about next year. I said democrats would campaign on abortion and race. Ginning up fear and hatred is all they got, really.
in one year, theyve lost Roe v Wade...and now Affirmative Action to this Trump appointed SC ....they gotta be BOILIN!!!!....AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. Easily the most consequential President in the last 50 years...the left will never get over this.....”snicker snicker”.....
Trump still looks the same way he did in 2002, while Sharpton has shriveled down to a scrawny, ugly tadpole.
All smoke and mirrors. In effect they didn't change a thing because they left a loophole. The schools can still consider the students’ essays on race as a factor ( the same way Obama was selected head of Harvard Law Review. Up until then it was based on merit. In Obama's year they considered essays- of which Obama's has never been released ) , so nothing will change and they’ll still favor black applicants with lower scores if they have AI write an essay about how hard it is being black in America.
Not a good argument better one would be that Trump learned his lesson.
That was a long time ago.
