Hey, folks. A culmination of sad events leads me to asking for help. A few months ago my landlord asked us to move out. It wasn't an issue with the rent. We haven't been late in years. He wants us out so he can remodel the house and charge more than twice what we're paying now.
Well we fond a little house that we could afford. But after rent, deposit, pet deposit and renting a U-Haul, there wasn't enough to hire movers. No problem. My son, Andrew, said he and his roommate, Will, could move us. (My wife and I are both disabled and would be less than useless at helping with the move.)
Then came the event that has broken us all. Two weeks ago, Andrew awoke to the feeling of his heart racing. My daughter took him to the hospital and he was admitted to the Cardiac ICU. He was there for a week during which time they found him once slumped over and unresponsive. They got him back. After a week in CICU he had improved enough that he was moved to a regular room Were he was then treated for pneumonia. After 15 days in the hospital, he was allowed to come home last Thursday afternoon. They sent him home with an oxygen concentrator. He said he was still feeling pretty weak and he went to bed.
Yesterday, at abou8t 8:00 am, Andrew's roommate found him slumped over in his bed again. He was gone. He was only 42. He was my first-born. My wife, younger son, daughter and I are beside ourselves with grief. Andrew's roommate, Will, is putting up a brave face, but we can tell that he is hurting, too.
So all that to ask if there are 2 or 3 Freepers with pick-ups in the Sapulpa, OK area who might be able to help Will get us into our new place. I can't afford to pay any more than pizza and pop when everything is done. I wouldn't ask but my wife is taking this worse than any of us and she just wants to get away from the painful memories.

Call the Area on Aging.....they help Seniors find so many services that can help. Thy can direct you.

Unfortunately, a thousand miles too far for me to help.
Look on FaceBook and search the name of your town. Many places have such an FB page and it is usually easier to find the help you need. My brother has run such a thing in a Large Florida city for some years so I have seen it work and one of his biggest things is getting help for the disabled or situations like yours. He has become quite a local celebrity and draws a lot of money for such projects. If no city name try neighborhood names and the like.

Stop the Presses!!! I hadn’t told my new landlord about my son passing away, but someone else did. He just called ad said that he and his brother would be here Monday to help. My daughter scraped up enough to rent a U-Haul for one day. Things are starting to fall into place.
When we first moved into our current home, we were renting from a little old lady. She collected the rent and her grandson took care of maintenance. She owned every house on this block. She also owned several other houses scattered around this town. But she wanted to retire so she sold this block to an investment company and gave the rest of the houses to her grandson. It turns out that her grandson is going to be my new landlord.
And as I’m typing this screed, A young man I’ve never met called to say that he will be here Monday. His grandfather used to live next door to us. My son used to mow the old man’s yard and do other odd bits for him, all at no charge.
I suppose I should be happy that thing are working out.
Do yourselves and your family a favor. Send each other voicemails telling each other how much you love them. Andrew hated using the phone and refused to leave messages.
I’d give my right arm if I could just hear his voice again.

I truly understand how your wife feels, having lost 2 sons, and nearly a third to Cardio issues just 2 months ago. We weren’t able to move back then.
And your landlord is a butthole for not understanding.
All I can do is offer prayers, as at nearly 83/75 moving heavy stuff is not an option. Plus we are in W. Tennessee.

The Salvation Army has programs that might be able to help you. Just a thought.
