There is no defense for Trump's attack on Kayleigh ‘Milktoast' McEnany
Hot Air ^ | May 31, 2023 | Karen Townsend

Kayleigh McEnany came under attack by her former boss on Truth Social last night. His very thin skin was pierced by the former White House press secretary, now a Fox News host and contributor. Kayleigh quoted a poll number Trump disagreed with and he went full force against her on his social media platform.

(snip)

Kayleigh was hired by Trump to replace Sarah Huckabee Sanders. I really liked Sarah in the job, too. Both women had the ability to stand firm against the daily attacks by the press corps and defend Trump. They didn’t back down when the dialogue heated up, which it frequently did. Kayleigh was poised and very matter-of-fact in her answers, as a Harvard law school graduate, her training showed. She was a regular on CNN, the epicenter of Trump Derangement Syndrome, and would defend Trump as she sat for panel discussions. The panel was always Democrat-heavy because it was CNN, after all. She was a champ.

So, Kayleigh landed at Fox after her time at the White House came to an end. There is no doubt in my mind that Trump would have kept her as his press secretary if he served a second term. He praised her and her tenacity in defending her. Now that she sometimes speaks favorably of Ron DeSantis – she is a Florida resident and he is her governor – she is on Trump’s disloyal list. Loyalty goes only one way for Trump.

(snip)

No one worked harder for Trump than Kayleigh. Trump’s reaction to her appearance on the Watters show is indefensible. He is an old and bitter man, obsessed with avenging his election loss in 2020. He acts as though he will remain 30 or more points ahead in the polls. That isn’t realistic.

Anyone who believes calling someone ‘milk toast’ is a real attack, and who drops their support for Trump over such trivia was never a solid Trump supporter.

but a lot of us give this type of reporting some legitimacy rather than shrugging it off.

And that, right there, is a serious problem.

I’m a Trump supporter....one of his most loyal, but behaves stupidly sometimes and wish to hell he’d quit it.

Trump goes out of his way, again, to cement his rep as an immature, no filter, loose cannon. I think these frequent internecine kill shots would make effective Dem commercials: “Is this the kind of irrational bully we need with his hand on the nuclear button?” I’m not saying I think that’s valid, but that I can foresee this line of attack.

As a former Trump Loyalist, I am now moving towards DeSantis as Trump persues self destruction.

Sounds like you need some tissues for your whining. You were never a Trump loyalist. Trump is Trump, and has been the very same since 2015. He has begun attacking those on the right that are not entirely loyal, and now you cry. Bunch of fair weather supporters, what y'all are.

What AC says is true. If she supported Trump she would not be at Fox for long, trust me.

I pray that Kayleigh, Watters and the handful of other true conservatives

There are currently no true conservatives on Faux News. If they stay and remain quiet, (Hannity, Levin, the 2 CIA plants that took over for Rush) they are clearly part of the problem. They can all ESAD as far as I'm concerned. They are bloviating horses rears, nothing more.

I agree, but your rationale is lost on the shrine-builders.

Why? He's done the very same thing since 2015. Now is no time to be clutching pearls over what Trump does in this regard. The squawking heads on "our side" can fall in line or suffer the consequences. Won't matter. Still gonna be Trump as the nominee.

Is there an inside joke I’m not hip to or does Trump just not know how to spell milquetoast?

Because if the latter is the case, the word in the headline should have been followed by the annotation ‘(sic).’

OMG!!

OMG what?

Kayleigh works for the "make Trump a non-person" network.

Trump claimed that Fox was informed of the correct poll numbers yet there was Kayleigh with the wrong numbers coming out of her mouth.

If she wants to be the pretty face of the anti Tucker, anti Trump, anti 2020 AZ election results then people will respond to her.

Then you know good and well that Trump is a counter puncher. If you don't want a blooded nose don't punch first. This isn't the first time the twit has been disloyal.

Dude go clutch some pearls somewhere else lolol

I see you want to shill for the sea island crowd. Totally missing the boat.

Did you see Desantis in Iowa? He is just a news reader, reading from a poll tested script prepared by the GOPe.

Winston Churchill famously said, “You can’t kick every dog that barks.” It’s wisdom that would serve Donald Trump well if he would only heed it.
~~~
Yea, Trump needs to be more like Churchill; “Churchill admitted he relied on alcohol. He always had a glass of whiskey by him, and he drank brandy and champagne both at lunchtime and dinner.”
~~~

What? LOL!
The metaphor about kicking dogs was relevant.
Churchill being a drunk is like saying that anyone who ever gave you good advice should be ignored because they are imperfect. Only one man could give you advice, and I’m definitely not saying he didn’t give the best advice, but your response about Churchill is ridiculous.

I’ve missed the boat? So you are okay with Trump’s continued and destructive antics? That is the topic here, not DeSantis. Stay focused, if you can.

So says Donald “The Mouth” Trump. Why does he do this nickname thing for everybody? He’s got the nomination nailed down, now, on a daily basis, he tries to lose it! His mouth always has been a problem, time to start calling him “the mouth” and see how he likes it. It just isn’t necessary. He is the best President we’ve ever had and he “mouths off” like a 5 year old.

"Trump’s lack of discipline, and very thin skin, which the Democrats will poke, risk losing an election that should be a comfortable victory for the Republicans."

What leads you to believe that the 2024 election “should be a comfortable victory for Republicans?” Was it the same source that predicted a “massive red wave?” We long ago crossed into territory where fraud and treachery have at least as much effect on the outcome of elections as actual legitimate votes do, and replacing Trump with DeSantis would do nothing to change that. In fact, only Trump can attract a significant number of democrat and independent voters, and thus have at least a chance to generate vote totals that might be capable of overwhelming the fraud. There is also a significant segment of the Republican base that will not vote for anyone other than Trump. Given all of those factors, Trump is the only hope for a difficult, but at least possible victory given the forces of darkness arrayed against any possibility of a fair election. And finally, don’t forget that the types of establishment apparatchiks backing and advising DeSantis are the same people who refused to lift a finger to fight election fraud.

Sounds like a rather mild criticism, all the uproar about it is far more unhinged than what Trump said. FOX is part of the De Santis campaign, which has to be kept in mind. Before long every talking head on FOX will come under fire from Trump.
