The University of Helsinki announced Monday the institution will confer climate change activist Greta Thunberg with an honorary Doctorate of Theology.
In its news release, the Finland-based university called the honorary degree its “highest recognition,” and 20-year-old Thunberg of Sweden is one of 30 individuals set to be honored as part of the school’s annual graduation ceremonies this May.
The announcement came just one day before a Swedish court gave Thunberg and hundreds of other climate activists approval “to proceed with a class action lawsuit against the Swedish state for ‘insufficient climate policy,'” Reuters reported.
“Thunberg, and 600 other young activists in a group called Aurora, sued the Swedish state in November, claiming it had to do more to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius in order to live up to the European Convention on Human Rights,” the outlet reported Tuesday.
Thunberg has become the poster child for progressive climate change activism in recent years.

She is like Barack Hussein Obama who won the Nobel Peace Prize for his enormous accomplishments from Jan. 20, 2009-Oct.9, 2009. 8 months including “Obama’s promotion of nuclear nonproliferation and a “new climate” in international relations fostered by Obama, especially in reaching out to the Muslim world.”
Obama announced early that he would donate the full 10 million Swedish kronor (about US$1.4 million) monetary award to charity. ((Several including Clinton Bush Haiti Fund and United Negro College fund and several education charities.))
He joined Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Albert Schweitzer,Gen. George C. Marshall,Martin Luther King and Henry Kissinger. Not that they measured up to Obama.
