Don’t most people brush their teeth before going to the dentist? Don’t most people bathe or shower before a medical exam? Don’t most people want to sound intelligent and informed when dealing with medical professionals?
Don’t most people……..
In the animal world, pigs don’t….
Of course.
I read of a black man complaining because when whites passed him on the street they would grimace and nod. Well in this neck of the woods that is the acknowledgement everyone gets when they pass. The grimace is a small closed lip smile.
I knew of a physician who got a patient complaint. The patient was an unemployed druggie who went to this physician for non emergency care. The physician refused to see him as he smelled. His philosophy is that if you don’t work, you have the time to bathe and put on clean clothes before seeing a physician. If you worked, and the smell was from working a job all day, he would see you regardless of how you smelled. Of course the patient complained. Both physician and patient were white.
I’ve often gone to the dentist straight from work. I tell them that and ask if I can please get the complimentary toothbrush and toothpaste now so I can brush first. Of course they are happy to oblige.
I used to tell my dentist if there was any pain involved, next time I eat Oreos and popcorn before my next appointment. Yes, I brush and WaterPik my teeth before going to the dentist. If I don’t, it takes his dental assistants longer to prep me.
