According to the NY Times, Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell had been under observation since suffering a concussion during a fall on Wednesday. He also has a “minor rib fracture,” his office said. He’s off to rehab and rumor has it that he might never return.
Mitch McConnell could be sidelined.
A spokesman, David Popp, said that the lawmaker’s “concussion recovery is proceeding well” and that Mr. McConnell, 81, had been discharged from George Washington University Hospital, where he was taken after the accident at the Waldorf Astoria on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington about 9 p.m. Wednesday.
“At the advice of his physician,” Mr. Popp added in a statement, “the next step will be a period of physical therapy at an inpatient rehabilitation facility before he returns home.”
D.C.. resident and radio host Chris Plante said on his radio show this morning that Mitch is in rehab and might never return to the Senate. That would be great news, but then, who replaces him?
We wish him good health and happiness, but not as a Senate leader.
Yes and no. I believe in KY the McConnell's local party (Republican) nominates a handful of candidates and the governor has to pick from those. I'm sure the Dim governor will pick the most GOPe of the nominees. So the question is if the state Republicans will give him only Rand Paul type candidates to choose from, or give him at least one McTurtle type candidate to choose.
They better not appoint his CCP wife to the seat.
“A blessing for the Tsar? Certainly!
May God bless and keep the Tsar.... far from us!”
RIP, Topol.
That would be Justified.
KY Gov is a (D), so no, he wouldn’t, if it came to that.............
when was that??? If it was after the commencement of the clot shot then it’s probably that
Was Mitch beaten like Harry Reed? Oh that’s right Harry said he was on a treadmill. Old Mitch might not have been willing to go along with the Blackrock Boys and someone reminded him who was boss.
Plus the dems are worried about keeping their power because of the cadavers Feinstein and Fetterman.
With Mitch incapacitated it would keep the dems in business. Plus they could easily rig a run off in Kentucky.
Very possible. If they could install a shill unAmerican like Beshear as governor. No way Kentuckians would vote for that Marxist.
As for the KY seat; the legislature has moved right, so they may appoint a real conservative. They’d likely need to tell Mitch to pound sand as his decades of influence are over. O-V-A. We can bet Mitch has preferences, though.
As for a new Maj. Leader: I assume another vote would be taken and since Mitch would no longer be in charge of campaign spending, committee assignments, etc. there may be many who were afraid to revolt that may now be happy to step outside the box and go with something completely different. (hat tip Monty Python). Scott opposed him in January and would likely be one candidate. Then there’s Thune, Barrasso, and the Iowa what’s- her name- that stand behind him, literally, showing support.
Looks interesting to me. Having Mitch out of Leadership could be a blessing.
Good riddance, scumbag
In patient rehab? Are we sure he wasn’t thrown down some stairs?
Hummm rehab for a concussion???? Don’t think so. Old mitch broke more then a rib.
Good. I hope that creep stays out of sight forever.
When you FINALLY realize you’re hated by everybody . . . including your wife and kids . . . .
The US Senate is starting to be as opaque as the USSR. Fetterman and McConnell holed up without documentation.
I wonder if he didn’t have a stroke
Great find!
Bye.
how did they end up with a dem gov with gop super majorities?
