Former President Donald Trump is intensifying his attacks on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, calling him disloyal and saying that his political career would have been over had he not endorsed his ultimately successful 2018 campaign.
“He was dead as a dog, he was a dead politician. He would have been working perhaps for a law firm or doing something else,” Trump told a small group of reporters aboard his plane on Monday afternoon en route to Iowa, where he was to make an appearance that evening.
Trump spent nearly ten minutes going after DeSantis, who is widely viewed as his most formidable challenger for the Republican nomination. The Florida governor, who is expected to launch his campaign following the end of the state’s legislative session in May, has been embarking on a swing of early primary states to promote his newly released memoir — including in Iowa, where he appeared on Friday.

trump is the problem...
trump’s whining while desantis is winning is a losing strategy...
Even if DeSantis were to win the nomination, he cannot win the general election without Donald Trump’s hardcore supporters. What DeSantis could have done months ago is endorse Trump enthusiastically and support his candidacy vigorously. Then, if Trump were to blow up and withdraw for one reason or another, DeSantis could have been perfectly positioned to jump into the race with full MAGA support. Instead, DeSantis has remained mostly silent as to all issues centered on Trump, such as the 2020 stolen election, and cozied up to the Bush Crime Family and Karl Rove wing of the Republican party. As a result, even if DeSantis were to win the nomination, enough Trump supporters would refuse to vote for him in the general election that it would ensure a Democrat victory. And it was all so unnecessary, because DeSantis could have positioned himself perfectly as a replacement nominee in 2024 or as the overwhelming party favorite in 2028. That’s how I see it.
I am willing to pay if necessary, to watch the primary debates. RDS will be insulted like he has never before. I can’t wait his responses to Trump after being called deSanctimonious and other doosies.
Haha, all the sanctimonious supporters of DeSantis “rip” Trump for “riping” DedeSantis. He begged, yes begged for Trump’s endorsement and 4 years later he’s working with Paul Ryan, Karl Rove and Romney to take Trump down and you all expect Trump to say nothing?
I am sure there is more to come.
And then sued by every two-bit hateful attention-seeker.
Although to be increasingly expected, this not good if accurate. Trump’s antics and actions can lead to fracturing the conservative electorate which is the last thing American needs in 2024. Does he really care about the country or just himself?
Trump tried very hard to work with the Deep statist. They simply don’t want America to be great again. Working with Paul Ryan isn’t going to get the country any closer to solvency
THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN BEST STRATEGY.
But his sugar daddies would not approve that.
The rich donor class wants no more tariffs on China. That cuts into their profits too much to tolerate.
trump let fauxi and the kung flu scamdemic destroy his 4 years of maga...
Rush used to say that no one can break the bond that Trump has with his supporters except . . . Trump himself.
President Trump, you are knocking on that door right now.
Covid Heavy!
You and I will just disagree on that..
People don’t like him. The vast majority don’t know him. Trump is telling them the type of scum he is. Good for Trump. I’m sure he’d love to define himself as a loyal America first man of faith but he’s a phony.
My plan is informed by the fact that I still hear trump with the same platitudes about the swamp and I’ve heard DeSantis speaking specifically, in light of the civil services laws, the executive branch can be restructured to make to responsive to the executive. Trump’s wretched record of appointments shows there’s no plan behind the platitudes
The GOP has brought our country to its knees. Now they’re sabotaging their own party by proposing cuts to Social Security and Medicare; grabbing that third rail with gusto. Their self-sabotage doesn’t stop there. They are purposely dividing the party by fielding a candidate to oppose Trump. This is suicide for the party.
Trump should seriously consider running third party. I hope that he does. It would represent an incredible opportunity for our country and allow him to craft his own political agenda tailored to attract the red-pilled from both sides of the political divide.
He could pick a VP that is democrat friendly. The number one issue would be ending the war in Ukraine and of course leaving Social Security and Medicare untouched. He’d be free to pick and choose issues that will trip up both uniparty candidates.
My guess is that Trump does this to make the super rich GOP donors think twice about giving money to DeSantis.
Seriosly though, if Trump stays on this he’ll turn offf a lot of Florida voters.
I’m pulling for Trump, but this is geting old.
The truth is no easier for those on the right than it is for those on the left. That’s why Trump is a tough pill to swallow but he’s thoroughly needed for the country. He’s not sweet and sugary, he’s bitter but necessary...if you want to get well
