“...Disasters on the Rise or Is It Just Our Imagination?...”
-
“Disasters” are neither on the rise nor in our imagination.

Truck Crashes, aircraft crashes, train crashes,
fires, floods, ships sinking, etc.

These things have always been happening,
but with the internet, people are aware of them.

When you use characteristics other than competence to hire and promote, you get people with characteristics other than competence in control.

IMHO, it’s widespread, systemic incompetence. Used to be confined to government, the media, and academia, but now it’s spreading into every bit of society. It’s only going to get worse.

Chit happens, always has and always will. Without statitistical trend analysis it’s just coincidence being fed by hype, online media, and too many people with nothing better to do.

Technology = Bad

People = Bad

Stop breathing, stop breeding, each bugs and weeds, walk, and freeze at home. Fear, just fear everything.

And put that mask back on to hide your ugly face.

There’s a thin veneer of hyper-competent professionals who keep the lights on and the water drinkable. Replace them with the incompetent in the name of equity and the water turns brown and the lights go out.

‘this was a problem that was supposed to be addressed by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill that was signed into law last fall. It turns out, that was more of a green slush fund than an “infrastructure” bill.’

Technological disasters are on the decrease both as a total number, but even more so as a percentage of utilization *

We are using global supply chains more and more, so we are utilizing far, far more of these. Yet even considering the increase in volumes, there are far fewer disasters as a percentage.

The reason for the perception is the increase in “right now media” — A fire in Woolamaloo in Australia? It’s known immediately in Washington

"Are Technological Disasters on the Rise or Is It Just Our Imagination?"

They are an indication that technocrats are being replaced by idiocrats and kakistocrats.

Is it Technological Disasters that are on the Rise or is it the exaggerated reporting of them that’s on the rise.

How many of the reported ‘disasters’ are actually disasters?

Also, there is more technology around us. Is there a per-unit rise in so-called technological disasters?

Despite the article's seeming to evoke tin hat-ism, he has a point: given the increasing safety environment provided by computer-controlled systems and far better communications systems, these catastrophes have happened. There should be no way that a trainload of toxic chemicals should have crashed and spilled occurred in this time.

Much of what has happened, has happened because of failure of these systems and the folks that supervise them to properly plan and prepare for the extreme danger posed by huge loads of chemicals travelling through occupied areas.

These events are almost always caused by people who either don't know their job, or take lazy shortcuts, or are mentally incapable of doing their jobs.

In short, stupid people cause these disaster.
