I get what you are saying, but it apparently wasn’t presented in the context of “America The Beautiful” and “Ragged Old Flag”.
It was presented wholly in the woke context of racial grievance.
I don’t think people are griping too much in this case. They have a point, a point recognized by many like me who have largely stopped watching the NFL or other sports such as the NBA that hawk this racial grievance stance.
” “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” for the first time in the Super Bowl’s long history. “
It wasn’t the first time, this is the third year that it has been played.
I can’t speak for anybody else but as far as I am concerned, the FNFL is DEAD to me. I have had enough of their cheap shit.
Maybe next time they decide to play this they should at least burn a few cop cars on the field while it’s being played
I googled to find out WHO or WHAT that was that appeared in the red whatever BEFORE the game. Should have copied the link as it said the song she sang was 123 years old????? Can’t find it now...my antivirus program gave me an alert on it so probably blocked it...I found out WHO/WHAT it was but I’m not sure where IT came from. That’s TALENT?
Bitching and moaning isn’t constructive.
“Thank you, Sir! May I have another?”.
It wasn’t really presented at all. They just played the songs. Johnny Cash on tape with clips and the other 2 live. They were just there.
Roger Goodell.....................
Me too. You are not alone. I used to be a nut watching all football games. Not any more. Don’t watch any now. Perhaps I would if they would do what they preach - diversify. Of course, that would only destroy their teams (exactly what is happening with other organizations with diversity, inclusion and other B. S.)
I don’t think I’ve ever heard that hymn. I’ll have to Duck Duck Go it.
What makes anyone think this is OUR national anthem? Oh wait.. its not ..or, else why is it the national anthem of a distinct segment of the population?
I think you're missing the point, which is that by declaring this the "Black National Anthem", and worse, having it performed at a game, is utterly racist and divisive.
Perhaps we should rebrand the Star Spangled Banner as the "White" National Anthem, and see how that goes. Maybe we can add "La Bamba" as the "Brown" National Anthem, and "Tiánmì mì" as the "Yellow" National Anthem.
I mean, as long as we're going to have separate anthems for "black" people, it would only be fair to have one for every other "color" too, no?
Given the context in which the “hymn” was played, and the outright fact that it is presented by the NFL completely out of a Christian context and in a woke/racial grievance context is enough to make congnizant people pay attention and take issue with it.
If you haven’t watched the NFL for the past six or seven years and noticed the disprespectful kneeling during the National Anthem (sanctioned and encouraged by the NFL) and the hundreds of millions ($250 million pledged last I looked) to Black Lives Matter and other racist causes, you might not be aware it is an issue at all.
So, the song may have had its roots in Christianity as a hymn, but that is not in any way, shape, or form the context this song is known for today. Nothing personal here, but to say otherwise means you don’t understand the issue.
What do you do with all your newfound free time??? It must be very liberating.
“Racism: The belief that different races possess distinct characteristics, abilities, or qualities, especially so as to distinguish them as inferior or superior to one another.”
After over a century and a half of desegregation, the left’s preoccupation with race, gender and sexual orientation has created pockets of citizens earmarked by the government and woke corporations for special treatment based on their race gender and sexual orientation. They have managed to resegregate the population accordingly. So, who are the real racists?
They want their own water fountains and restrooms...................
Did not watch, but why would a song called “Lift Every Voice and Sing” be called the “Black” National Anthem”...when it says “every” voice?
This is Black History month. It chronciles the progression of a sterling, pristine, noble culture that has conquered and flourished, as it were, despite the opposition and hostility of a culture that is dark, evil, and needs to be cancelled and removed. Maybe that is why the NFL added two more games, so the Super Bowl would occur smack in the middle of the celebration of a culture that is superior to all others and highlights the sordid culture it seeks to displace.
