If we do this - and the US tried the same stunt (balloons over Russia) - we risk the CHICOMs blasting/blinding our spysats as they fly over China.
I would not shoot it down.
Go up and drag it down to get all the crap they have hanging under it.
Or puncture it so it drops down where we can grab it.
You all remember when the reds grabbed one of our planes and made such a big deal out of that back when GW Bush first started his term?
We’re letting the Chinese simply maneuver this thing wherever they please around the US while we sit around doing nothing.

If its just a weather balloon China should have no problem if we shoot it down and send them a bill for the cost of shooting it down.
Who knows? It might be a US balloon designed to pick up weak radio signals from China and Russia. Much like a balloon over the US was designed to do IN 1947. It crashed and became the “FIRST UFO CRASH NEAR ROSWELL NEW MEXICO!”
