Democratic elected officials and operatives fear a younger Republican could pose a serious threat to President Joe Biden’s reelection odds, according to CNN.
Top Democratic officials believe Biden has a good chance of beating former President Donald Trump in 2024, but many are worried a younger Republican candidate could pose a serious threat to Biden, according to CNN. Many are concerned that Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who hasn’t announced his candidacy, will defeat Biden, and others believe it is time for a new generation of candidates on both sides of the aisle.
Two unnamed Democratic operatives are “uneasy” about the idea that Biden can pull a victory against DeSantis or another younger Republican, and another believes that Biden’s chances are “not great.” Four Democratic members of Congress, who asked to remain unnamed, believe that half of Democratic lawmakers would prefer a candidate other than Biden, according to CNN.
“It’s a little bit like when Trump was president, and none of the Republicans would say what they really thought on the record,” said one Democratic strategist, according to CNN.
Though the lawmakers feel there may be a need for a new Democratic frontrunner, they believe Biden’s strongest argument for running would be that the Democratic party could avoid a hectic primary, according to CNN.
Democratic Minnesota Rep. Dean Phillips believes the midterm elections were a signal that it is time to “create pathways for new generations of leaders,” according to CNN.
“There’s a pragmatic element of this too. I believe the country will be in a place where they’ll be looking for a new generation as well,” Phillips said.
An October poll by Economist/YouGov showed that a majority of Democrats would not support Biden running in 2024. Of the respondents, 26% were in favor of Biden running for reelection, and 52% were opposed.
In October, Biden announced that he had not made a formal decision to run in 2024, but it is his “intention.”
“The reason I’m not making a judgment about formally running or not running, once I make that judgment, a whole series of regulations kick in and I have to be – I treat myself as a candidate from that moment on. I have not made that formal decision, but it’s my intention – my intention to run again. And we have time to make that decision,” Biden said.
The White House did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
Biden lost in 2020, and will lose to ANY republican in 2024...
the only question is, will the republican establishment go along with another theft, like they did in 2020.
Dominion should be of assistance.
Propaganda ……
More attempts to divide Trump and DeSantis.
IT WON’T WORK1
Of course they will.......................
They’re all younger than Biden...
Here we go. They will be pumping DeSantis 6 ways to the wind to try and get rid of Trump.
I heard the DEMs were sweating it out before the 2022 midterms. It takes a wild imagination to have believed that.
How can they lose…they exercise major voter fraud…and then count the votes…
If anyone can help the Democrats win in 2024 it’s the Republican National Committee.
Really, now. Does anyone seriously believe that Mister Biden will run in 24?
Sure they’re scared. Recall all the reports we had a month ago about how the democrats were ready to slash their wrists when the red wave hit.
Some strategerists.
Trump is a younger Republican than biden.
Candidate quality doesn’t matter anymore, as any brain damaged cretin or dementia patient can be on the Dem ticket and win as a senator or president.
Voters don’t matter either. Only collecting ballots matters.
Of course he will.
If he’s still vertical.
If not, he just votes.....................
Dem voters don’t care that their candidate is a brain damaged moron who will allow people behind the curtains to destroy the country.
The only older Republican would be Herbert Hoover.
Regards,
they drug Biden out of the grave to run. They have no one else electable.
Is Methuselah a Republican?
