The impact of the use of a nuclear device in Ukraine will depend on the details. Like any large-scale industrial army, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have obvious pressure points that would be vulnerable to nuclear attack. These include logistical centers, command and communications nodes, and concentrations of front-line forces. During the Cold War the Soviet Union expected to use tactical nuclear weapons against NATO (and expected that NATO would use them in return) and it is therefore likely that the Russian armed forces have workable theories as to how they might best use tactical nukes to inflict damage on Ukraine’s fielded forces.

And it's five, six, seven ..
Open up those Pearly Gates;
Well, there ain't no time to wonder why,
Whoopie, we're all gonna die.
All of Europe has enough assets to defeat Russia.
The US isn’t Europe’s police.
You should not be a general to see the obvious.
If you recall, destroying and occupying Germany cost 25 million lives and six years of war.
How do you envision that happening? And what do you think Russia would be willing to do to prevent that outcome?
Working in the nuke business…we still use the old “Effects of Nuclear Weapons” text. The manual calculator is pretty good.

A nuke going off on European soil will devastate the Eurozone economy. No banks will loan any money. These effects will reverberate over here.
At the very least, I'd expect a run on the grocery stores, wiping out the shelves.
Good luck with all that.
Perhaps it was wrong to persuade Ukraine to give up the ex-Soviet nukes then...
Who gives the UN Security Council some right to divide up nations and destroy cultures? How about they do that to America because we went into Iraq?
This idiotic Bidenista Ukraine fixation is turning people into what they claim to hate the most.
What a scene! In the hotel during the trout fishing trip with the beautiful rendition of Waltzing Matilda by the baritone. My heart ached and I was only 10.
For a surface interacting burst…you’re right, it will be uninhabitable. For a burst at altitude? Structures are fine…living things…not so much. You could start repopulating in time (1 or more years depending on yield).
LOL. By what sort of power it is going to happen?:)
In this case, probably nukes.
IMO this is the opening of the seven year tribulation, the four horses of Revelation Chapter 6 - WWIII IMO - ending with 1/4 of the world dead (Rev. 6:8).
I suspect Biden is never in the room when they discuss anything serious. Having someone with his problems in the room while trying to work through something makes for an impossible situation. He is probably told what to say and then rehearsed several times before they stick him in front of a mic.
Most of those lives were Russians grinding against Germans. Russia is already now a pariah. Using nukes will ignite the rest of the world to destroy them: by nuke or otherwise. Hopefully not a protracted world war.
Russia will be gone in any case. What to do with them once they’ve lost?
After the resultant world war. Not an immediate divvying.
You mean when the radiation levels are low enough to enter Russia?
1 to 5 years.
After effects would go on for decades.
In those 1 to 5 years, for those who survive that attack, it would be better for them to have died.
Society will break down. I guess the SiFI films like the “Postman” might not be to far fetched.
The occupiers will be killed by the hundreds. Russia, may not be performing well in this war, but when it comes to their turf, they will kill everyone there.
Do you know what a Tactical Nuclear weapon is compared to a Strategic Nuclear weapon ?
Come back when you do.
