Populist Sweden Democrats leader Jimmie Akesson declared victory for the four-party bloc. He said his party would be “a constructive and driving force” in the work of rebuilding safety in Sweden.
He said it was “time to put Sweden first.”
The bloc that includes the Sweden Democrats — the country’s second-largest party — won a thin majority in parliament. Though a few votes were outstanding they were not enough to sway the final outcome.
While Andersson is personally popular, anxiety in Sweden has grown over high crime rates in segregated districts that are home to large numbers of immigrants who have failed to integrate into Swedish society. Some blamed her Social Democrats, who have been in power for eight years.

Actually, the Western world provides all sorts of financial and hiring benefits to immigrants, especially those with "refugee status." (You can google it.) They get a financial "leg up" that are denied to native born citizens.
Plus, immigrants network and hire and promote their own aggressively. If white Americans tried to compete on a level playing field, favoring whites, they'd be hit with a discrimination suit.
Not to mention corporate and academia diversity hiring. It didn't just start with the Summer of Floyd. (Yes, East Asians are getting some push back in Ivy League admissions because they've been too successful.)
Ever wonder why so many South Asians own gas stations and convenience stores? At least in Canada, they have a program in which a recent immigrant gets a tax break for the first two years after purchasing a business. Then, when the two years are up, they'll sell the business to a relative (they have large families), and keep the cycle and the tax breaks going.
Native born white Canadians don't get those tax breaks, and thus their gas stations can't compete as easily with South Asian owned stations.
At least that's what I heard on a podcast. Sounded like the guy, a Canadian, knew what he was talking about.
Every society is a mixed economy. Every government program has tradeoffs. Sometimes the benefits outweigh the harm.
But socialism vs. capitalism is so last century. The biggest problem today is not economic, but anti-white racism. The issue that conservative politicians and pundits dare not name. Much safer to focus on tax policy.
Today's Left isn't redistributing from rich to poor. It's redistributing from whites to nonwhites. (Oligarchs excepted; they only get richer).
May be in Canada they subsidize gas stations. Not in USA.
Many immigrants opt to run a business because of facing discrimination in corporations.
Back I 1965 I was having a talk with a fellow employee. He was Jewish and he had to change his name from Rosenfeld to Rise because no one would hire him with a Jewish name. That left a deep impression on me.
Back in the 1980s I worked for a cable TV channel in New York City, and later for a film studio in Los Angeles. In both instances, clerical office work with no real power.
In the former, both my coworkers were Jewish (one was half Jewish), both my superiors, their boss, her boss, and her boss. In the latter, all dozen or so lawyers in the legal affairs dept. were Jewish.
I thought, gee, I guess that could be a coincidence. After all, they hired me. Later I learned, through remarks they made to me, that they thought I was a fellow Jew.
That left a deep impression on me.
A lawyer I know changed the spelling of his name to give the impression he was Jewish, as that made life easier in the legal profession (his wife is Jewish).
Yet the only anti-Semitism I've ever experienced in my long life was a black homeless man calling me Jewish after I refused to give him money. And a kid calling me a Jew after I refused to buy a drink from his lemonade stand. Both instances were over 20 years ago.
Today’s Left isn’t redistributing from the rich to the poor? They NEVER did at ANYTIME. Socialism is theft.
And murder. In the last century some 200 million people were
killed, mostly by their own governments, which were socialist.
Seriously dude, you seem to have a kind of wistful romantic notion of socialism.
Just saying...
Soviet Gulags, West European/Israeli welfare states, and small religious communities are all "socialist," in a limited economic sense. Yet they're all very different societies.
I speak as someone who's seen Communism while the Curtain was still up. My parents lived under Stalin.
There were many other aspects to Soviet socialism than socialized medicine. Both the USSR and Sweden had socialized medicine. Yet while Stalin's was a nightmare society, life in late 20th century Sweden (from what I can see) wasn't all that bad.
